A Breathtaking Mountainous Border Region in the North East of Vietnam

image.png

Hello all Hivians, hope y'all having a great day. Today, I'm excited to take you to a mountainous border province in the North East of Vietnam, name Cao Bang . It's an immensely beautiful and sparsely populated frontier region. Therefore, this land has offered a variety of natural resources that will present you another pure nature of authentic Viet Nam. 🙂

There are 2 seasons: the rainy season ( April-September) and dry season (October- March)

How to get to Cao Bang? It's 280 kilometers away and about 6-8 hours drive from Hanoi. Travelers can get there by "sleeping bus" or "Limosine". If you are a big fan of motobike adventure; well, riding a bike from Ha Noi is a great experience to discover the mountainous roads in the North of Viet Nam.

If you are nervous about traveling to this far part of Viet Nam, there are many genuine travel agencies or local tour guides that make your trip completely joyful 😊

If you are travel on weekend or during the peak season, make sure to reserve a comfortable seat and great accomodation to avoid disappointment.

Okie, let's check out my adventure in Cao Bang 😆

Ban Gioc Waterfall

Located at a unique place right on the border between China and Vietnam, the waterfall is considered as the most gorgeous waterfall of South-East Asia & the 4th largest cross-border waterfalls of the world. This is the top awsome sight and a must-see when in Cao Bang. The water is 200 meters wide, falling 35 meters that makes a stunning view. It's worth the effort to see 😍

Entrance fee (2020): 45.000 vnd / adult & 20.000vnd/ child

Truc Lam Phat Tich Pagoda

Known as the first pagoda ever built in the northern province of Viet Nam, Truc Lam Phat Tich was built based on the Vietnamese traditional style with rosewood & tile roof. The appearance of the pagoda perfects the panoramic view of Cao Bang with natural beauty and religious place.

Just 500m from Ban Gioc Waterfall, from this hillside pagoda, visitors could overlook a panoramic view of Ban Gioc waterfall and the entire karst valley. Great spot for photoshoot. 🙂

Nguom Ngao cave

Nguom Ngao Cave is located in the heart of Gun village, Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district. The cave is listed among the most beautiful caves in Vietnam with a miraculous collection of limestone mountains and stalactite. The total length is 2 kilometers but 1 kilometer is open for tourists. I have been told the cave was formed 300 millions years ago and used to be a home to many tigers, so it was called Tiger tomb before. Nguom Ngao in Tay dialects means Tiger cave.

The cave is only 3 kilometers from Ban Gioc waterfal and extremely fantastic with the incredible image of limestone and shimmering stone.

Yen Nhi Homestay

Yen Nhi Homestay locate in Khuoi Ky village of Tay minority people, close tourist attractions. The homestay built by rock and wooden, it looks very cozy and really authentic. Very quiet and relaxing place surrounded karst mountains, especially; very friendly and welcoming family and food are plentiful, fresh and flavoursome😋. This is a homestay you must go to in Ban Gioc, highly recommend. 🙂

There is a cluster of hotels, homestays in Cao Bang bases on your budget to choose from. I would like to recommend to spend a night in Ban Gioc area where you can have a chance to live local family to learn more about the regional cuture, try local Vietnamese food and enjoy rustic beauty of mountainous regions.
