HSBI... What are they?

From HSBI

Recently I was discussing with @melinda010100 about the possibility of sponsoring some prizes in the Shadow Hunters contests. She currently gives out one HSBI unit to each winner (in addition to the other prizes) and I was considering doing the same. However, she pointed out that many of the participants in the Shadow Hunters contest are relatively new to Hive and many probably have little or no idea what HSBI are or what they can do for you. So I agreed to put together a post explaining some of the basics of the HSBI program.

To be honest when I started blogging here I saw people mention HSBI and I had no idea what they were either. Eventually I happened across a post that explained it. I'll have the link below so you can do some more deep diving into the program if you want to.

How it works

Hive Stake Based Income (HSBI) is a program designed to deliver occasional upvotes on your posts depending on the number of units you have. In order to receive an HSBI unit you need someone to be your sponsor. Anyone with a valid Hive account can be a sponsor. All they need to do is send one or more Hive to @steembasicincome and place your username in the memo for the transaction. That's it! You then receive as many HSBI as the number of Hive sent, in return the sponsor also receives an equal number of HSBI in their account. That way you both benefit!

How to check how many HSBI units I have?

It's easy, just go to: https://www.hivesbi.com/userinfo/
Enter your Hive username and it will bring up how many HSBI units you have along with information on upcoming votes you will receive or ones you have received in the past. There is an algorithm that determines vote amounts, and if you wish you can dive deeper into that one in the post link below. You will receive a vote when the next vote estimate reaches a minimum of 0.02 Hive. You can only receive one vote daily from the program at a maximum.

My experience

I believe I had eleven units the first time I checked. It gave me a vote of 0.02 Hive occasionally which was nice when I was first starting out. I decided I wanted more frequent votes so I started doing HSBI giveaways on my posts every day for a few months. I would sponsor the winner of the daily drawing by sending Hive to @steembasicincome and placing their username in the memo for the transaction. Before too long I had accumulated more than one thousand units when I decided to stop my daily giveaway. I now receive an upvote once a day whenever I post which is really a nice perk of the program.

I still do a weekly HSBI giveaway to show my appreciation and give back to all the kind people here on Hive who helped me get started blogging and to succeed. Feel free to check it out and enter if you would like. I also like to be one of the sponsors for the winners of events like Shadow Hunters and Three Tune Tuesdays. It really is fun to help people out on their journey here on the Hive ecosystem!

I hope this gave you a little better idea what the HSBI program is and how it helps us all out here on the Hive ecosystem. If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask and I will do the best I can to answer them.
