Hola comunidad Hive, me llamo Orialy Arismendi, tengo 31 años, soy de Venezuela, de la Isla de Margarita. Vivo en una isla hermosa, con el mejor clima y los mejores paisajes y atardeceres. La Isla de Margarita es un encanto para todo aquel que la visite, paradisíaca, exuberante, tropical. Me gusta la lectura, la fotografía, los idiomas, ejercitarme, compartir con amigos y disfrutar de la naturaleza, adoro los animales y siento una gran sensibilidad por la pachamama. Debido a la actual crisis económica que vive mi país, estar desempleada y no poder adquirir ropa por sus elevados costos aprendí con la ayuda de mi madre el oficio de la costura, es otro de mis hobbies descubiertos recientemente, confecciono mi propia ropa, y vendo a los vecinos y amigos, lo que ha ayudado con el sustento de mi familia en medio de esta situación.
Hive community, my name is Orialy Arismendi, I am 31 years old, I am from Venezuela, from the Island of Margarita. I live on a beautiful island, with the best climate and the best landscapes and sunsets. Margarita Island is a charm for everyone who visits it, heavenly, exuberant, tropical. I like reading, photography, languages, exercising, sharing with friends and enjoying nature, I adore animals and I feel a great sensitivity for pachamama. Due to the current economic crisis in my country, being unemployed and not being able to buy clothes due to its high costs, I learned with the help of my mother the craft of sewing, it is another of my recently discovered hobbies, I make my own clothes, and I sell to neighbors and friends and who has helped with the livelihood of my family in the midst of this situation.
Me gradué como Licenciada en Idiomas Modernos en el año 2011 y gracias a la recomendación de mi tutor de pasantías fui junto a otros compañeros entrevistada para trabajar en el Aeropuerto Santiago Mariño y quedando seleccionada para el puesto de Anunciador de Vuelos en el Departamento de Relaciones Públicas y Protocolo, a mis cortos 21 años; allí me desempeñe y trabajé en diferentes áreas: Atención al Pasajero Nacional e Internacional, Asistente del jefe (a), Anunciadora de Vuelos, Community Manager y Fotógrafa.
I graduated as a Bachelor of Modern Languages in 2011 and thanks to the recommendation of my internship tutor, I went along with other interviewed colleagues to work at the Santiago Mariño Airport and was selected for the position of Flight Announcer in the Public Relations Department and Protocol, at my short 21 years; I worked there and worked in different areas: National and International Passenger Service, Assistant to the boss, Flight Announcer, Community Manager and photographer.
Mi carrera la ejercí durante 8 años en el Aeropuerto Internacional General en Jefe Santiago Mariño, el mismo sirve a la Isla de Margarita y el segundo a nivel nacional en movilización de pasajeros nacionales e internacionales. El año 2011 cuando ingresé y los años siguientes la movilización de pasajeros estaba en auge y turistas de diferentes partes del mundo venían a Margarita a disfrutar de sus paradisíacas playas; Alemanes, Franceses, Italianos, Españoles, Mexicanos, Polacos, Checos, Rusos, Argentinos, Colombianos, Peruanos y otras nacionalidades quedaban fascinados con las maravillas de esta tierra de gracia. Todos enamorados de Margarita, de su gente, de su gastronomía, sus playas, su clima, etc.
I exercised my career for 8 years at the General en Jefe Santiago Mariño International Airport, it serves Margarita Island and the second nationwide in mobilizing national and international passengers. The year 2011 when I entered and the following years the mobilization of passengers was on the rise and tourists from different parts of the world came to Margarita to enjoy its paradisiacal beaches; Germans, French, Italians, Spanish, Mexicans, Poles, Czechs, Russians, Argentines, Colombians, Peruvians and other nationalities that were fascinated with the wonders of this land of grace. All in love with Margarita, its people, its gastronomy, its beaches, its climate, etc.
Me paseé por todas las áreas de mi Departamento, la que más me gustaba era atender a los pasajeros internacionales, amaba compartir con ellos, preguntarle su experiencia en la Isla, ayudarlos u orientarlos en su paso por la terminal aérea. Ellos arribaban a la Isla de Margarita a través de vuelos chárter o con conexión con el Aeropuerto Internacional Simón Bolívar en Maiquetía con diferentes operadores turísticos.
I walked through all the areas of my Department and the one I liked the most was serving international passengers, I loved sharing with them, asking about their experience on the island, helping or guiding them in their passage through the air terminal. They arrived on Margarita Island through charter flights or with a connection to the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía with different tour operators.
Durante mi carrera en el Aeropuerto tuve la oportunidad de asistir a 2 cumbres que se realizaron en la Isla de Margarita “Cumbre Energética” y “Cumbre de Paises No Alineados” así como atender a mandatarios, dignatarios, representantes de embajadas, consulados, iglesia católica, personajes públicos, políticos, organización y participación en eventos políticos e institucionales, entre otros.
During my career at the Airport I had the opportunity to attend 2 summits that were held on the Island of Margarita "Energy Summit" and "Summit of Non-Aligned Countries" as well as attend leaders, dignitaries, representatives of embassies, consulates, Catholic Church, public and political figures, organization and participation in political and institutional events, among others.
Estuve encargada (Jefe) de mi Departamento en varias oportunidades, siendo promovida por mis superiores al cargo de jefe el cual rechace por vivir lejos de la zona y querer más tiempo libre. Fue una experiencia increíble llena de mucho aprendizaje tanto profesional como personal que atesoro en el corazón y que seguramente me abrirán las puertas para una nueva experiencia como profesional.
I was in charge (Head) of my Department on several occasions, being promoted by my superiors to the position of head which I rejected for living far from the area and wanting more free time. It was an incredible experience full of much professional and personal learning that I treasure in my heart and that will surely open the doors for a new experience as a professional.
Siendo por mi llamada la “Época de Oro del Aeropuerto” o “La Gallina de los Huevos de Oro” mis compañeros de trabajo y yo teníamos el mejor de salario de toda la Isla de Margarita, seguro médico para mi familia y para mí, caja de ahorros, ley de política habitacional y las mejores bonificaciones contractuales que un empleado pudiese tener. Gracias a mi trabajo tuve la oportunidad de viajar a muchos países; adquirir mi cámara fotográfica profesional, conocí muchos sitios de mi país, comíamos bien y era accesible la adquisición de enseres, vestimenta, calzados, etc. Nuestra situación económica era buena, era muy difícil que algún trabajador renunciara a su puesto de trabajo, todos estaban económicamente bien.
Being named by me the "Golden Age of the Airport" or "The Chicken of the Golden Eggs" my co-workers and I had the best salary of all the Island of Margarita, medical insurance for my family and for me, cash savings, housing policy law and the best contractual bonuses that an employee could have. Thanks to my work I had the opportunity to travel to many countries; acquire my professional camera, I got to know many places in my country, we ate well and the acquisition of household goods, clothing, footwear, etc. was accessible. Our economic situation was good, it was very difficult for any worker to resign from their job, they were all financially well.
Lamentablemente eso no duró para siempre, a mediados del año 2015 empezamos a sufrir una profunda crisis económica en mi país Venezuela, los salarios cayeron estrepitosamente, se acrecentó la inflación, no nos alcanzaba el salario ni para comer, muchos de mis compañeros rebajaron hasta 40 kilos, se empezó a sufrir por la falta de comida, no había nada que comprar en los supermercados y tampoco había dinero para adquirir lo poco que se encontraba, de aquí en adelante empezamos a sufrir todos los venezolanos.
Unfortunately that did not last forever, in mid-2015 we began to suffer a deep economic crisis in my country, Venezuela, wages fell dramatically, inflation increased, we did not even have enough to eat, many of my colleagues lowered to 40 kilos, began to suffer from lack of food, there was nothing to buy in supermarkets and there was no money to buy what little was available, from now on all Venezuelans began to suffer.
Muchos compañeros de trabajo profesionales comenzaron a emigrar a países como Argentina, Perú, Chile, Colombia, Brasil, Panamá; buscando mejorar su calidad de vida o sencillamente poder comer bien o tener un gusto como comerse un helado. La situación era muy triste, saber de buenos profesionales y amigos emigrando dejando sus puestos vacantes.
Many professional co-workers began to emigrate to countries like Argentina, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Panama; looking to improve their quality of life or simply to be able to eat well or have a taste like eating ice cream. The situation was very sad, knowing of good professionals and friends emigrating leaving their vacant positions.
Nuestro salario cayó en 7 o 8 $ al mes, muy bajo, en el comedor de los trabajadores nos ayudábamos unos con otros para que nadie estuviera con el estómago vacío, compartíamos la comida, las bebidas, las tristezas, los llantos. Todos los servicios en ambos terminales comenzaron a decaer, comenzó la falta de papel higiénico, jabón y agua en los baños, la movilización no era la misma, apenas 5 o 6 vuelos diarios en un día movido. La limpieza empeoró con el pasar de los años. Para el año 2017 nuestro seguro médico no valía nada, ley de política habitacional y demás bonificaciones cayeron con la alta inflación.
Our salary fell by $ 7 or 8 a month, very low, in the workers' dining room we helped each other so that no one was on an empty stomach, we shared food, drinks, sadness, and crying. All services in both terminals began to decline, the lack of toilet paper, soap and water in the bathrooms began, the mobilization was not the same, just 5 or 6 daily flights on a busy day. Cleaning got worse as the years went by. For the year 2017 our health insurance was worth nothing, contractual bonuses, housing policy law, all bonuses fell with high inflation.
Mi padre comenzó con la agricultura para ayudar en la casa, siembra frutas, verduras y hortalizas para ahorrar en gastos económicos y hasta el sol de hoy lo sigue haciendo, lo que significa una gran bendición para mi familia y mi madre con el oficio de la costura, confecciona y repara ropa usada a los vecinos y amigos.
My father started with agriculture to help around the house, he sows fruits, vegetables and vegetables to save on financial expenses and to this day he continues to do so, which means a great blessing for my family and my mother with the profession of sewing, making and repairing used clothes for neighbors and friends.
Para el año 2019 renuncie también a mi puesto de trabajo, muchos de mis compañeros lo lamentaron e intentaron hacerme cambiar de opinión pero nadie vive con un salario tan bajo, el dinero lo gastaba pagando el transporte público para ir a trabajar, no valía la pena. Debido a esta situación decidí aprender a coser con mi mamá y ayudarla en las reparaciones y encargos que aunque es muy poco lo agradecemos todos los días con el corazón, actualmente con la pandemia del COVID-19 nuestro pequeño negocio ha decaído significativamente agudizándose aún más la crisis actual que vivimos, buscando la manera de conseguir otra fuente de ingresos conocí esta gran plataforma llamada Hive a través de mi prima Nieuscarin quien también es parte de esta gran comunidad.
For the year 2019 I also quit my job, many of my colleagues regretted it and tried to make me change my mind but nobody lives with such a low salary, the money was spent paying for public transport to go to work, it was not worth it the sorrow. Due to this situation, I decided to learn to sew with my mother and help her with repairs and commissions, which, although it is very little, we appreciate it every day with our hearts, currently with the COVID-19 pandemic our small business has significantly declined, making it even more acute. The current crisis we are experiencing, looking for a way to get another source of income, I met this great platform called Hive through my cousin Nieuscarin who is also part of this great community.
