Police announce they are searching a property for the body of Mary Bastholm who disappeared in 1968 - widely believed to have been a victim of Fred West

Today, on the 11th May 2021, the police have made a statement that new information has been gathered and this could be a "significant development". Filmmakers working on a documentary alerted police on 7th May providing new information regarding the disappearance. However, following new evidence, police have began searching the café. "First and foremost our thoughts are with Mary's family and we would ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time." Police are currently assessing whether to conduct a full excavation of the property over the next weeks. However, it was reported that Fred West - one of Britain's most notorious serial killers - admitted to killing the girl prior to his suicide in January, 1995. Fred West himself allegedly told his solicitor that he had killed Mary Bastholm and buried her in Bishop's Cleeve near Cheltenham.
