The GHAWG Diaries, Part 17

The GHAWG Diaries, Part 17

What's happening behind the scenes to bring new GHAWG content? The GHAWG Diaries is my recap of what I've been doing.

Base image came in another form from PublicDomainPictures.Net. Edits made using MS Paint.

Introduction

There's more to #GHAWG than just daily zapfic entries and the spreadsheet I use to track them. There's research. There's review. There's also thought and inspiration. Then there are the tools involved in doing any of those tasks.

Just to keep things from getting scrambled in my head, and also to document for myself what I've been considering, I began keeping a diary of my activities as they concern #GHAWG. With posts in the GHAWG, Uninterrupted series on hold at Interlude 3 while Act 7 remains in progress, I decided to share these diary entries with everyone on Hive blockchain.

On Mondays which don't feature a GHAWG, Uninterrupted post-- GHAWG-U-- I'll post diary entries from the previous 7 days or between GHAWG-U posts if the time between them is short. For Part 17, there are 7 days' worth of diary entries. The first entry starts on 2024-February-12.

Before anyone scratches their heads at a few terms, here are 3 I began using many posts ago:

TermMeaning
Rat BikeCode name for #GHAWG (the first and current zapfic serial)
Blue LionCode name for the middle zapfic serial in the GHAWG Universe
The BronzeCode name for the final zapfic serial in the GHAWG Universe

📓 Do I have writers' bloc? Maybe I have it. Not for the actual zapfic entries, not for the Weekly Summaries, and not for "The GHAWG Diaries". "GHAWG Uninterrupted" is simply all zapfic entries for one Act (or Interlude) in one place without commentary, so writers' block can't exist there. Instead, it may be in the "Fun with Maps" subseries of the GHAWG Behind the Scenes series of posts. At the moment "Fun With Maps" is on hold at South Bend, Indiana, US. How far back is that? David Guardia was riding with the uncanny Manny Rey. Rat Bike is currently in Act 7, so Manny Rey was part of Act 2; that was 5 Acts and 3 Interludes ago. If I can't do "Fun with Maps" at this time, then I'll shift my focus to other content-- even if it's unrelated to GHAWG. Combined with the clcok and the calendar, I'll find ways to make the adjustments I need in order to resume consistent creation of content for "Fun with Maps".

📓 Tonight I began to redo the zapfic entries taking place in New Mexico between Continental Divide and Albuquerque. It still takes a while for the scene to take place, at least Our Heroes are in motion riding east. I'm still trying to visualize how the money shot takes place, but it's getting clearer for me.

Along the way to redoing this sequence I reviewed the digital map of New Mexico. Even though Los Lunas-- not a typo of the Spanish phrase {las lunas}, that's actually the name of the place-- is considered a destination on Old Route 66, it didn't match the digital map I was looking at. So I decided to bypass Los Lunas in favor of going directly from Laguna to Albuquerque. US Route 66 is overlayed by Interstate 40 between Laguna and Albuquerque, so this still keeps with the plan to ride Old Old Route 66 from Santa Monica in Los Angeles, California, US to Chicago, Illinois, US.

📓 GHAWGnav, the sticky post at my profile page, has been updated to include all content as of today. Since Act 7 is in progress, the GHAWG Uninterrupted series remains at Interlude 3.

📓 For two people acknowledged to be the elder statesmen in the group we know as Our Heroes, David and Rhonda Bella Guardia act like two teenagers in love as in those songs from the 1950s. At the moment it's cute, but at some point that's going to cause trouble for the crew. The Twins (Hank & Frank, the Brothers Marchenko) and The Kids (Sanjay Rampersad, Lionel Odunsi, and now Lindsay Etxeberria) don't have issues or concerns with The Newlyweds; however, their focus on themselves makes them prone to errors in judgment. It will take one or two of these errors to get them to snap out of their marriage-induced haze before they regain the clarity they displayed on the ride from STURGIS to San Diego. What these errors are remains a mystery even to me.

📓 There are companies which go to where you are when you need them. Usually they are companies such as SafeLite AutoGlass, to repair windshields without the driver needing to go to a repair center. As a result of developments in mobile phone apps and technology, Domino's Pizza began to deliver pizzas to people while they were in transit; the delivery driver finds the buyer of the pizza based on geolocation data. A scene like this is in the works for Act 7 of Rat Bike when Our Heroes ride east through New Mexico after passing Albuquerque. For now, I'm working on zapfic entries which set up this scene. Due to rewriting the last few entries, the zapfic queue has been extended to 2024-March-26.

📓 I had forgotten that the Weekly Summary post needed to be published today. So I spent much of the day working on this post. It turns out that there's a scene featuring multiple zapfic entrieswhich needs to be kept intact, so instead of a post with 7 entries it will contain 13 entires instead. So before I forget, the next Weekly Summary post on the accelerated posting schedule once once every 6 days is for Thursday 2024-February-22.

📓 Even though the ride east to bring everyone home-- Chapel Hill, North Carolina, US for Sanjay Rampersad and Lionel Odunsi; various parts of Iowa for everyone else-- is part of Rat Bike, it feels like a separate story. This makes 3 such stories in Rat Bike. First was the ride to STURGIS, and second was the ride from STURGIS to San Diego, California, US. Obstacles and opportunities need to be put in place which get this 3rd story moving toward completion as well as to allow for greater character development. Although I can wing it the entire way, that will make the story feel aimless and without a point. So with about three thousand miles of riding left-- two thousand miles of which are accounted for by Old Route 66-- I need to set up a framework which covers key scenes and build out from there. I'm still trying to get a feel for this story, so I have time before I can fire on all cylinders.

📓 As of today, The zapfic queue reached into 2024-March-30. At that point, Our Heroes are in New Mexico riding from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. It's at this point where Our Heroes acquire the additional identity of Felix Legion. This is just a wardrobe upgrade, but now they will ride east looking more like a motorcycle club. The safety yellow sleeveless jackets-- yellow vests-- they had been wearing since riding into Portland, Oregon, US will be replaced by safety yellow vests resembling the Guardia Courier Services logo only bearing the name FELIX LEGION.

When (and Where) To Catch #GHAWG

When

This is the normal schedule for the posting of content for #GHAWG:
● Daily -- Each zapfic entry is posted shortly after midnight, from New York
● Weekends -- Weekly Summaries (with modified screen capture from LeoThreads as cover image) are usually on Saturday, sometimes Sunday
● Monday -- Either GHAWG, Uninterrupted if present, or The GHAWG Diaries
● Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday -- GHAWG Behind the Scenes -- The goal is to publish these posts on all days not dedicated to the Weekly Sumamry, GHAWH-U, or The GHAWG Diaries (TGD). There may be days with no post, so I'll minimize those occasions as best as I can.

(Plese note that the Weekly Summary posts will be posted on an accelerated schedule-- every 6 days rather than every Saturday-- in order to bring those posts in synch with the daily zapfic entries. Synchronization should be finished by Spring 2024.)

Where

● Daily zapfic entries drop at LeoThreads, usually posted shortly after midnight from New York (sometimes around noon)
● All long form posts-- Weekly Summaries, GHAWG-U, and TGD-- can be accessed using the #GHAWGnav sticky post or from my LeoFinance profile page

This week I hope to have more content published and recorded to Hive blockchain.
