Street art in a small business area

Sometimes I am so happy to learn about the area where I live in. Especially since I have been gone for a couple of years, it is really sweet to see that areas have changed and that there is room for small businesses and that this is the way to make industrial areas come alive again.

I visited Sectie-c to visit a girl who sharpens Japanese knives and there turned out to be so much more. This was just a lucky shot in finding it. I was on the hunt to get these Japanese knives sharpened and that hunt wasn't as easy as I thought. Eventually I found this girl and her business and decided to pay this spot a visit. And what a surpise this was!

What I knew from this area is that a lot of small art galeries were here which were fully subsidised by the government. I don't have a lot of affinity with art which I don't understand, and it doesn't make it any better if artists tell you 'it is so much design that normal people will not understand it'. Wrong answer, if there is no market for it, maybe this should stay as a hobby for yourself. But that is a different story.

Now all of a sudden there was a woodcraftmanship here at sectie-c, and a sausage maker, and this knive sharpener and all other kinds of things. All kinds of businesses who need a place to work, but not a gigantic shop and who don't have the option to pay too much rent.

And there was art on the walls. Great art!

That is the cool thing what this street art can do. it can turn an old industrial area into something alive, and something that people will want to visit.

This suits the new purpose of this area perfectly because of the handcraftmanship which is done here. It is welcoming and fresh and is a place where you want to sit down and have a drink.

The terraces in Eindhoven are still closed but will open next week again during day time. I gues when I pop by in here again for something that this will surely be a place where I will get a coffee and chill for a bit

As you see, the place is ready for take off and I guess also during the evenings this will be a cool place to enjoy a beer. I really hope also someone has their brewery there in the area but this will be something to check out. I have the feeling there is a lot more to explore here.

Exploring the hometown in renewed form. I am liking it!
