(ESP-ENG) Bayonetta: Bloody Fate

We continue in that search, in that hunt for movies that immediately catch my attention and this time it was the turn of a story that can be found in Prime Video, one that has to do with witches, demons, angels and heaven itself, in other words, the eternal struggle between good and evil. While it is true that these plots are very trite and cliché, personally I will always like to see the approach that they give because it is not always the same, a clear example is this film where empathy is slightly inclined towards evil and darkness represented in our protagonist.

Seguimos en esa busqueda, en esa caza de películas que de buenas a primeras me llamen la atención y en esta oportunidad le tocó el turno a una historia que la pueden encontrar en Prime Video, una que tiene que ver con brujas, demonios, ángeles y el mismo cielo, en otras palabras, la eterna lucha entre el bien y el mal. Si bien es verdad que estas tramas son muy trilladas y clichés en lo personal siempre me va a gustar ver el enfoque que le dan ya que no siempre es el mismo, ejemplo claro es este film en donde la empatía está ligeramente inclinada hacia la maldad y la oscuridad representada en nuestra protagonista.

But then, what is this movie about? - The first thing you need to know is that it is based on a video game that was originally developed by the people at SEGA. The story tells us about Bayonetta, a witch who was asleep for almost 500 years after a great war took place in those times. This conflict was given by two clans or groups, the beings of light or called sages and the beings of darkness that in this case would be the witches. After all that no one was left alive except for her who, as I said, woke up after a long sleep.

Pero entonces, de qué va esta película? - lo primero que tienen que saber es que está basada en un videojuego que en principio fue desarrollado por la gente de SEGA. La historia nos habla de Bayonetta, una bruja quien estuvo dormida por casi 500 años después de que en aquellos tiempos se diera una gran guerra. Este conflicto estuvo dado por dos clanes o grupos, los seres de luz o llamados sabios y los seres de la oscuridad que en este caso serían las brujas. Después de todo aquello nadie quedó con vida con excepción de ella quien como ya les dije despertó tras un largo sueño.

The thing is that when she wakes up she has no memories of her past, the only thing she knows or understands is that she is an angel hunter; these angels are not like the ones you imagine, no, they are creatures that go after blood with a specific purpose, they are quite twisted the truth. Bayonetta being in a strange place begins to receive certain clues and calls to go to a sacred city in order to find the answers to the many questions she has about her past, the detail is that this trip will be complicated because on the way she will have to deal with a few creatures a little friendly.

La cosa es que ella cuando se despierta no tiene ningún tipo de recuerdos de su pasado, lo único que sabe o que entiende es que es una cazadora de ángeles; estos ángeles no son como los que se imaginan, no, son una criaturas que van detrás de la sangre con un fin en específico, son bastantes retorcidos la verdad. Bayonetta estando en un lugar extraño comienza a recibir ciertas pistas y llamados para que se dirija a una ciudad sagrada para así encontrar las respuestas a las tantas preguntas que tiene sobre su pasado, el detalle es que ese viaje será complicado ya que en el camino tendrá que vérselas con unas cuantas criaturas un poco amigables.

This is a story of fantasy and magic that go hand in hand with an adventure into the unknown. As I said it is very interesting that struggle between good and evil, here is raised in my perspective as neither of the two is the good part. On the one hand, Bayonetta wants the world to continue in chaos and submerged in darkness after the war I told you about, the balance that existed was lost. On the other hand, this horde of angels seeks to purge the world since it is lost, believing that in this way it will be reborn and will be as they have always dreamed.

Esta es una historia de fantasía y de magia que van de la mano con una aventura hacia lo desconocido. Como dije es muy interesante esa lucha entre el bien y el mal, acá está planteada bajo mi perspectiva como ninguno de los dos es la parte buena. Por un lado Bayonetta lo que quiere es que el mundo siga en caos y sumergido en la oscuridad después de que tras aquella guerra de la que les hablé se perdiera el equilibrio que existía. Y por el otro esta horda de ángeles lo que buscan es purgar al mundo ya que está perdido creyendo ellos que de esa manera renacerá y será como siempre lo han soñado.

So when there is this duality of ways of acting it's up to you to choose which side to position yourself, many times you get to empathize with Bayonetta, it happened to me, it's strange but that's how it was, I never saw the angels as the true beings of light with good intentions. It's very interesting that. As for the animation, it's good, it has good fluidity, good colors, the movements are quite accurate; it doesn't have much gore or blood, maybe that was a little lacking, although it is violent, almost the entire film is a single battle for survival, which makes it a little entertaining at the end.

Entonces al haber esa dualidad de formas de actuar te toca a ti escoger de qué lado posicionarte, muchas veces llegas a empatizar con Bayonetta, me pasó a mi, es extraño pero así fue, nunca vi a los ángeles como los verdaderos seres de luz con buenas intenciones. Es muy interesante eso. En cuanto a la animación decir que está buena, tiene buena fluidez, buenos colores, los movimientos son bastante acertados; no tiene mucho gore o sangre, quizás eso me faltó un poco aunque si es violenta, casi toda la película es una sola batalla por sobrevivir lo que al final la hace un poco entretenida.

Although it may seem a little crazy there is also a theme of feelings about what we want to be in the end, of brotherhood, of fatherhood, those touches give some depth to the plot that make it not so empty. Overall it's not a boring movie, it's a plot that we've seen enough but that doesn't stop the story from being watchable; I started watching it without expectations and in the end I ended up enjoying an average film. I would have liked to play the video game at some point to see how faithful this adaptation is but from what I saw in the movie, the result isn't too bad.

Aunque parezca un poco loco hay también un tema de sentimientos sobre lo que al final queremos ser, de hermandad, de paternidad, esos toques le dan cierta profundidad a la trama que hacen que no sea tan vacía. En líneas generales no es una película que aburre, si es una trama que hemos visto bastante pero eso no deja que la historia no se deje ver; yo la empecé a ver sin expectativas y al final terminé disfrutando un film promedio. Me hubiera gustado jugar el videojuego en algún momento para ver que tan fiel es esta adaptación pero por lo visto en la película, el resultado no es tan malo.

Bayonetta as a character is one that despite the intrinsic evil she possesses has certain things that don't make her a bad person, it's quite interesting how she deals with the fact that she is who she is but at the same time tries to do her best and make the best decisions according to her way of seeing the world. Having said that I give this movie a 7/10, you can watch it without problems, it's enjoyable, it's not a big deal but it's more than acceptable to pass the time. It has a duration of an hour and a half and you already know it but I repeat it, it's on Prime Video. I leave you the trailer.

Bayonetta como personaje es uno que a pesar de la maldad intrínseca que posee tiene ciertas cosas que no la hacen una mala persona, es bastante interesante como lidia con el hecho de ser quien es pero al mismo tiempo trata de hacerlo lo mejor posible y de tomar las mejores decisiones según su forma de ver el mundo. Habiendo dicho esto a esta película le doy un 7/10, se puede ver sin problemas, se disfruta, no es la gran cosa pero pasar el rato está más que aceptable. Tiene una duración de hora y media y ya lo saben pero lo repito, está en Prime Video. Les dejo el tráiler.
