I Like You, May Forever & Wayo [Ysabelle Cuevas for TTT]

It's super hot Tuesday up here in the mountains, whew! The weather has certainly changed so much. And so, it's another day just being indoors. It's a good thing though as I cleared my laundry hamper. I was quite productive, I tell ya.😜

Music did come into play in the afternoon. This time, tunes from Bella Poarch and Ysabelle Cuevas took up my attention. I love pop that's why. And let me share 3 of Ysabelle's tracks that were added to my playlist.

But before that, a quick bio of the artist:

Ysabelle is a singer, songwriter, and arranger who hails from the Philippines but moved to Los Angeles, California (and now Utah). She has been writing music since the age of 15 and has worked with various producers both in the US and internationally.¹

She was raised in a musical family with her mother being a singer and her father being a producer. Ysabelle grew up listening to classic R&B and soul music from artists such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin. This inspired her to pursue a music career.²

Accordingly, she started by doing covers of popular tracks of different artists (Britney Spears, ABBA, Adele, Taylor Swift, Jamie Miller, etc) and then sharing them on YouTube. Her channel has over 2.81 million subscribers. She has also translated Korean songs into Filipino and English. Speaking of which, the first below is just one of them.

Ysabelle Cuevas - I Like You So Much, You’ll Know It

(Wang Junqi English Cover)

Per her caption, she fell in love with the Korean TV Series called A Love So Beautiful, and translated its soundtrack into English.

With over 241 million views, this track is her most-viewed music video to date. I think she nailed this with her soft, and melancholic voice which has that certain lightness, making it nice and fun to listen to.

Ysabelle Cuevas - May Forever

This is one of her own compositions which she wrote in 2017, probably inspired by the traffic in EDSA, the longest (approximately 24 kilometers), most congested highway in Manila.

The single was released in 2018 through her label Warner Music Philippines. The music video was shot along EDSA of course! Currently, the video has almost 2.3 million views on YT.

Ysabelle Cuevas - Wayo

Another indirect translation (an English version) of "Treasure, by Bang Ye-dam of the K-Pop group. This was her entry into the YG Entertainment’s song cover contest where she won the grand prize in 2020.

She has come a long way and has uniqueness and style. I read that she is transitioning from doing covers to making original music. That is nice and it would be exciting to see how the next phase of her career would go.

And there goes my recommendation for the Three Tune Tuesday (TTT) initiative by Ablaze. I wonder, do you like any of it?

Thank you and I wish you a fabulous day (night) wherever you may be. Cheers!

Music videos are not my own. Credits to Ysabelle Cuevas channel on YT.
