Super Soak, Lights, 240 lbs Squash, Water Line - Friday

I have no clue how they got in but the stupid M******f***** deer had at the summer squash. I only got a paltry 11 pounds due to their infestation. Super annoyed and rather pissed off I spent a good part of my day ruminating about it and trying to figure out how they could possibly get in. It didn't ruin our morning soak, it just made me need our evening soak more as I got pretty tense and frustrated.

After my angry picking session I tried to divert my frustration by focusing on the lights. I installed the LED light strip partially the night before but I wanted to get it fully installed around the deck. It's a pretty nifty set where the thing has an app that I can set a schedule for the lights to come on so I don't have to have a mechanical timer setup.

It's thin strip so it fits in some tight spaces like the tiny bit of exposed 2x6 below the decking fascia board.

I ran the strip along the support beam beneath the deck which gives a pretty cool effect from above. Not as much light as I would have like above the deck but it looks really cool around it.

I got a text that the fence had been opened on the upper garden so I headed up there to see what damage the deer had done. Surprisingly there was not much damage. They had mainly just eaten leaves from the already dying plants and they look to have eaten at least one over ripe melon.

This is my biggest pumpkin of the year and I am letting it keep going. It should end up being around 70 pounds judging by the size of it compared to the other pumpkins I have picked already. But I will know for sure one I have it back at the house.

More squash were ready for me to bring down and I ended up picking 241 pounds.

The Minnesota Midget melons are seriously producing. I got 20 more melons which ended up being 20 pounds. These things are incredible, they are uber productive, personal sized, and delicious.

@stryeyz got home after her early day at work then shopping and brought me the 100ft hose. With the spa in place we need a way to keep it filled with water from the house that is filtered and softened. The softening is not the key, it is that it is filtered water since our well is so high in iron. That meant I needed to run a line from the basement to the outside and it happened to be perfect that I ran the gas line the exact same way.

In the basement I popped a hole in the foam between the basement and the underside of the house next to the gas line.

Under the house I ran the hose parallel to the line and used it as support.

It is such a tight little crawl space, just barely enough room for me to crawl in.

The hose runs out the port in the foundation and then along it to near the spa. We have a little tub of water to use as a foot dunk, primarily for the boys since they are dirty little monsters.

With the hose run and me showered off we spent the rest of the evening in our spa. My skin is reacting extremely well to the minimal chemicals in the water. My eczema has not flared now and is only getting better. I'm hoping the same remains true for J and his horrible skin issues he got from my genetics.

I let Jax out to roam around the garden over night. He did a lot of running, barking, and chasing while we soaked. A few times I got out to get something from the house and found him wanting in the screen door, which meant he was out of the fence chasing deer. GOOD BOY!

I will know more about the garden in a while after our morning soak. I am hoping that the dog did his duty and that there was no incursions into my garden space. We are going to go morning soak when I finish this post, then today I have to pick any squash that might have grown, I have to get the last apples down, and today we will be cutting up the melon to put into the freeze dryer. They are quickly ripening in the cooler and need to be processed. There is only a couple ways of saving melon and we plan to keep them all.

Have I mentioned how much my body LOVES the spa????

Yeah.
