This isn’t my first watercolor picture of a horse, I took the courage a few months ago to make a quick sketch of this gorgeous animal, but I didn’t feel like I should post it.
I found this charming horse by free images browsing.

I named her Blondie. (Of course, it may not be a mare but a stallion or gelding.) She seems very gentle and friendly. I fell in love with her golden mane that her master braided nicely.
Another beautiful theme I can paint!
I didn’t have the courage to do such a business before, but studying watercolor at Lami's online school gave me a little self-confidence.
I made a relatively detailed pencil drawing. It also includes the boundaries between light and shadow.
I started the texture of the outer wall of the barn with a dry brush technique.
The horse received a pale golden ocher base.
I shaded the dark part of the interior of the barn with black watercolor chalk.
I washed the watercolor chalk part with a little water. It is left with a bit of texture, but so is more uniform. I started designing the window frame and the window closing panel. Unlike the original photo, the closing panel will be worn blue.
I continued with the shade of the horse. I used a lot of burnt siena, umbra and sepia. I also mixed a little orange and red into the brownish red parts to make it even more vivid.
Here I started the braid of the mane just like several small details, for example the shadow of the hairs, the nose and the mouth.
I drew the white hairs with a white gel pen.
Tadaaam...! Here is Blondie herself! Warmly welcome you too! She’s just waiting for you to get her out of the barn and run freely on her back!
