British actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge and American actor Donald Glover also known as Childish Gambino, will star in the remake of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". The artists revealed this on their instagram accounts.
The new version of the story of the spy couple will be released in series format on Amazon Prime in 2022. The show will be directed by Francesca Sloan, known for her work on series "Fargo" and "Startup".
"Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world. It's really a dream come true for us as well as our global audience to have these two forces of nature working together as a powerful creative team," said Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke.
Doug Liman's original film, based on a screenplay by Simon Kinberg, was released in 2005. It starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. In the 2006-2007 TV season, ABC also presented a TV version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Michael Henderson and Jordan Brewster, but the show did not progress beyond the pilot.
