Unboxing my new Huion Kamvas 13!

So, I just took the plunge and bought my first Huion drawing tablet! My ride-or-die has always been Wacom, but man, those things are getting pretty pricey. With so many alternatives popping up these days, I figured it was high time to check out what else is out there. That’s when I stumbled across Huion while watching a YouTube vid about the top drawing tablets for this year.

To my surprise, Wacom didn’t even make the list. I’m guessing the steep price tag might be why. Even though Wacom is top-notch and super popular, I decided to explore other options. I considered an Apple tablet or a Samsung Galaxy tablet; both are fantastic, but the price is just out of my league right now. Maybe in a few years, I'll splurge on a Galaxy tablet, but for now, I needed something that wouldn’t drain my savings.

So, I ended up with the Huion Kamvas 13!

Since it was imported and came from the official distributor, it arrived in a brown box for protection. It was snug and easy to pull out. When I got to the white box inside, I was stoked by how smooth and sleek it felt; there's something so satisfying about handling a brand-new item.

After slicing through the seal and lifting off the cover, there it was, wrapped in plastic. Even though it’s not as pricey as an iPhone or Samsung tablet, the joy of peeling off that plastic and pulling the tablet out of the box was unreal. No wonder unboxing videos are so popular!

Inside the package, I found the tablet, the pen, a pen holder, a few nib tips, the manual, a glove, a cleaning cloth, and a bunch of cables.

The cables include HDMI for the display, USB for power, Type-C for connecting the display, and an extra set for powering the tablet with a power bank if you don’t want to use your laptop. It might not be the ultimate solution in connectivity, but it’s solid and works for me.

The standout feature for me is the pen. It’s super lightweight and doesn’t need batteries, unlike my old Wacom pen, which always felt a bit heavy and needed constant battery changes. Huion’s latest models have really come a long way from their older, clunky versions. They’re sleek and easy to handle now.
