Will it be Bullish or Bearish for DCALPHA when dCrops releases their new game packs in Q1-Q2 2022?

dCrops is a crop farming game on HIVE. It is a simple-to-play game, and does not take much time to play. It is a good first play-to-earn game for the uninitiated.

However, there are no more game packs (Alpha packs) left for anyone to buy at the moment. That is a bummer as opening packs is a very fun process!

The good news is that new packs (Beta packs) will be on sale in Q1-Q2 of 2022 according to their announcement.

But let's allow the motive of play-to-earn to sink in: Buying and holding these packs can be a form of staking investment.

In a nutshell, gamers are currently rewarded some HIVE for simply holding unopened game packs, and they are disbursed on a daily basis.

To illustrate, one can hold unopened Alpha packs and that commands a certain advantage when it comes to calculating Crop Power and contribute to holding rewards ranking.

From the details above captured from their FAQ page, Crop Power, which is the basis for awarding daily HIVE payout, seems to be hugely dependent on the number of Alpha packs held. 2000 Crops Points for each unopened pack is quite a big deal in my opinion.

According to their statistics, the APY in my case is calculated to be around 38.52% currently based on my predominately passive staking of 70 packs (of $2 each), since I don't actively play this game. I earn roughly 0.25 HIVE daily as you can see below.

What is more surprising to me is that Alpha packs (DCALPHA on Hive-Engine) currently have a rather stable price that hovers above $4 easily. So that means, ROI from the initial purchase of packs and keeping it unopened is good, since each pack was bought at $2.

Moving forward, what would happen when more packs are released in Q1-Q2 of 2022?

I can think of these two bullish and bearish scenarios.

Bearish: The increase in supply causes a crash in DCALPHA prices as current pack holders sell their packs.

Bullish: Those waiting on the sidelines who had missed out on the Alpha packs might snap up the new supply. Generating more new interest in dCrops. DCALPHA might further spike if many new players choose to hodl unopen packs.

I think (and hope) the bullish scenarios might be more probable. First, the game features of dCrops are advancing nicely. Secondly, the play-to-earn concept is gaining momentum and does not seem it will stop. Both augurs well for dCrops overall.
