I get the sense that Hive isn't that well covered by YouTubers, or even in the Twitter space, when compared to other projects.
I am trying to speculate why.
This is despite the fact that Hive is 130 in the ranks of coin market cap.
I have heard about projects and tokens lower than Hive ranking on YouTube more frequently. Maybe that was a result of projects paying for exposure. Thus the YouTubers covered them.
A similar situation can also be seen on Twitter. If not for the efforts by Hiva folks to repost links there, Hive is not as popularly discussed as the rest on Twitter. From my limited observation on Twitter, I sense that non-Hivers normally ignore Hive, and do not want to have any further engagement despite Hive being mentioned in the comments in response to earlier Tweets.
My intuition tells me that the Web 2.0 social media space is massively filled with people who want to pump their own bags, anything that is not Hive. Thus the concentration of discussion on projects that typically have VC support or interest there.
In contrast, Hive is already a decentralised VC-free project, and there is a limit to what VCs can do to milk it for what it's worth. Therefore it makes sense that the discussion of Hive pales in comparison.
If my thinking is correct, the level of decentralization of Hive is not conducive to making a quick buck from Hive. Especially so, since much of the worth in Hive will be dependent on the activities of the community and that can be viewed as less controllable from these VC's eyes. A case in point is that we see projects like Stepn getting massive coverage, even though its use case can be compared with what we have in Hive --- Actifit. There is limited interest in YouTubers making this comparison. They are more interested in discussing the prices of the Stepn token than to discuss what's going on in similar projects.
Without the VCs to direct marketing efforts via YouTubers and Twitter influencers, the exposure of Hive is limited. Period.
I guess that is fine, as Hive is a project that should attract people who want to use it and build on it.
Well, I suspect most crypto newbies get their crypto knowledge from YouTube. So it would be important that Hive gets featured more prominently.
