One of the most mysterious sights of the resort town of Sochi is the dacha of Colonel Kvitko. This is a beautiful building with interesting architecture, which has been in disrepair for many years. The history of this place is mysterious and ambiguous, thanks to which curious tourists and townspeople regularly come here

It is located in the area of the "Primorsky" state farm, as if squeezed by Kurortny prospect and Novorossiysk highway. The hotel "Tornau" and the art gallery "Plastic in a tree" are found nearby. From here you can see the top of Maly Akhun mountain

The owner of the building is Andrei Valerianovich Kvitko, colonel of the tsarist gendarmerie and a descendant of a noble Cossack family. The famous building appeared thanks to his wife, Italian Vera Dmitrievna Martynova, who wanted to have a castle in Russia, as in her homeland. The spouses' dacha dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. It is located in the area of Maly Akhun, on a plot of 13 hectares. Unfortunately, the project of the building has not reached today, but researchers suggest that its author could have been the Sochi architect A.Ya. Budkin

After the revolution, Kvitko and Martynova hurriedly leave their home: all dachas in this area were nationalized. Hastily collecting the property, even leaving many valuable things, they moved to Italy. One of the legends of the colonel's dacha is connected precisely with the treasures left behind: Andrei Valerianovich tried to take away his wealth, but he could not, so he hid part of it on the territory of the house. Until now, curious treasure hunters, obsessed with the idea of the Kvitko treasure, are trying to find chests with jewels

During the Great Patriotic War, Kvitko's dacha turned into a hospital where wounded soldiers were treated. In the 50s. last century, a branch of the NKVD sanatorium named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky, where the best employees of the department improved their health. But this institution did not last long: soon the castle turned into a children's health camp "Youth", which operated until the end of the century

In the 90s, when Perestroika began, they decided to reconstruct the building: the workers began to dismantle the roof, but they did not have enough funds, so the dacha met the devastation of the 90s in a dilapidated state, in which it still remains

Kvitko's dacha in Sochi is located in a picturesque place: a cliff stretches from the sea side, near the mountains there is dense, southern vegetation, marked with thujas, palms and lianas. In recent years, its condition has been carefully monitored: the accumulated garbage is removed and the territory is regularly cleaned. And although individual walls are painted with graffiti, great photos are obtained against the backdrop of the majestic ruins

According to the second legend, when the NKVD sanatorium was located within the walls, drunken employees of the commissariat seized the daughter of one of the workers of the sanatorium, raped her and killed her. The mother of the deceased, unable to cope with her grief, inflicted a terrible revenge on the criminals, and then hanged herself. It is believed that since then three ghosts have been walking around the dacha: an unfortunate girl, her mother and a man in uniform.

They also say that once the famous singer Alla Borisovna Pugacheva was looking for a dacha near Sochi. Walking through the house, she felt unwell and gave up the idea of buying this building. It is believed that most people here feel inexplicable fear and malaise, but personally, I did not feel anything like that.

According to information in the network, it was recently decided to restore the colonel's dacha and turn it into a museum, but the investor has not yet been found.
