Washington, DC to be partially shutdown for the 6 January protest

6 January 2021 is the day the Congressional certification of the Electoral College vote is scheduled to take place. That is the final stage is the process of determining who the next President is going to be as delineated by the US Constitution.

Normally, this event is little but a routine confirmation step. Not so this time.

This time we have a situation of sharp division - and a situation where the results of the election are sharply disputed. That is for a good reason. There are, at least in this writer's opinion, just way too many oddities that took place to believe that Biden won fair and square - or at all.

The election season in 2020 was odd indeed. Biden was nominated to run as a Democratic Party candidate even though his performance vs other contenders was, let us say, questionable. He was mostly not campaigning and when he was, he was barely able to get 20 people to come see him. Trump meanwhile was able to get tens of thousands of people to come over, even on short notice.

And then the election happened on 3 November. And somehow Biden won - scoring 80 million votes but winning only 17% of the counties. Trump scored 74 million votes. Immense irregularities make this alleged victory of Biden's even weirder. There were massive infusions of ballots in battleground states in the middle of the night after the election, predominantly for Biden, there were counties and states where the numbers of ballots collected by far exceeded the numbers of registered voters, there were irregularities to no end, seemingly.

This evidence was never considered in a meaningful way by the court system - mostly, on the ground of "standing", or lack of jurisdiction. Courts argue over which one of them is best suited to consider it - who knows why. Maybe, they are afraid that violence would erupt, that leftist radicals would retaliate should the truth be affirmed by the courts and their preferred candidate, Biden, lose? That is possible. There could be many reasons.

But one thing that is painfully obvious is that there are more and more people absolutely convinced that voting in this country no longer matters. And if history is any indication, people who are disenfranchised often end up resorting to violence.

Let us hope the Congress takes this into consideration on Wednesday, 6 January. Let us hope they at least acknowledge the legitimacy of challenging the election results. Because a civil war seems to be a real possibility if Biden is just rubber stamped into the office.

Meanwhile local authorities in Washington, DC are shutting down streets. Some businesses are closing down, and many more may choose not to serve protesters for fear of retaliation by Antifa/BLM as attacking businesses they view as disloyal is their trademark. The city is about 90% leftist. So if you choose to go there it would behoove you to be careful and come prepared. Warm clothes, a backpack with some food, etc - that may be a good idea as you may not have a restaurant to eat at or a hotel to stay at available to you - not in the city itself. And provocations and violence by leftist extremists is a real possibility.

This author would possibly have gone there too - but due to a recent bout with a kidney stone he figures this may bot be the best idea. But he fully supports the idea of protesting blatant election fraud and at the very least sending a loud message out there that we will not be polite and accepting of those who are seeking to usurp power through fraud. These allegations need to be investigated and not ignored by authorities the way they have been so far.

For now - here's hoping that those protesting in DC have wisdom, foresight and perseverance to do the right thing.
