Happy Forkday to the Hive Community

Today is the 3rd anniversary of Hive Forkday, a significant milestone in our community's journey towards establishing a decentralized and censorship-resistant platform.

You might be wondering "Why Forkday and not Birthday?"

Well, let's take a quick look down memory lane. Three years ago, our community made a bold move to split (fork) from the Steem blockchain. It was the beginning of a new chapter, fueled by our commitment to fight against centralization.

However, it's important to me to recognize that our full history extends beyond these three years, with many of our original members contributing to the foundation that ultimately led to the creation of Hive. Therefore, I prefer to call this celebration a "Forkday" to pay tribute to the momentous decision that gave birth to Hive, while also acknowledging the work and accomplishments that have shaped our community since its inception.

Since then, it's amazing to see the progress we've made and the strong foundation we've built together, making Hive the vibrant and innovative ecosystem it is today.

A quick look at the past year

The core dev team has made remarkable work in enhancing the blockchain code. The result was a significant reduction of the hardware resources needed to run witness nodes and API nodes. This improvement has allowed more community members to participate in the network, which in turn has strengthened decentralization and increased the overall security of our blockchain. These advancements showcase our commitment to creating a more accessible and resilient ecosystem for all.

Another noteworthy milestone is the implementation of One Block Irreversibility. This groundbreaking feature has greatly improved the user experience on the Hive blockchain by offering faster transactions.

Finally, it's hard to talk about the past year without mentioning the new projects and applications emerging from our community. The work of developers has led to an influx of new apps and services. Our community is truly buzzing!

Personal thoughts

Among the few things I would like to highlight from the past year is the return of the in-person HiveFest event. After virtual gatherings, there's something incredibly special about reconnecting face-to-face with other Hivers. The energy and enthusiasm of HiveFest were palpable and reinforced the vibrant spirit of our community.

As I reflect on my journey on Hive, it becomes more evident that the foundation of our success lies in passionate, diverse, and dedicated community members. Each of them contributes their skills and perspectives, driving the platform's growth and fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.

Looking back on the past three years, I can see how we overcame multiple challenges and emerged with a more determined and stronger community than ever. I'm thrilled to be a part of it and look forward to seeing the growth and success of Hive.

Visions for the Future

As we enter another year, a key goal is enhancing user onboarding to attract and retain new members. We need to simplify the process and provide a welcoming environment to grow our community.

We also need to improve developer onboarding. By providing resources, support, and a collaborative atmosphere, we can encourage more developers to join the Hive ecosystem and bring their ideas to life.

Let's keep these goals in mind so we can celebrate the next forkday with the same enthusiasm.

A last word

I also want to take this opportunity to thank each of you.

It is your passion and commitment that have brought us to where we are today. It's everyone's continued support that will make Hive's future as bright as its current history. I am truly honored to be part of this community and look forward to seeing the amazing things we will accomplish together in the years to come.

Thank you all for being a part of this adventure!

Happy 3rd Hive Forkday! 🎉🎉🎉
