He's been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role three times, as Sgt Elias in Platoon, as Max Schreck in Shadow of the Vampire, and this year as Bobby in The Florida Project, and won countless other awards. He has played characters as diverse as Jesus Christ in the controversial The Last Temptation of Christ to the Green Goblin in the Spiderman franchise, and even an animated fish in Finding Nemo. You'll be able to see him soon as Aquaman, and as Vincent Van Gogh in At Eternity's Gate. He added another award to his impressive list when he was honored last night with the Cinema Vanguard Award at the 33rd annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
