I want to share a few photos from this "Dancing with the Stars" photo shoot with a good friend and amazing dancer, Mary Petersen.
Location: North end of the Great Salt Lake, Utah.
Reach
We got to our location just before sunset so we were able to get some sunset shots.
Finesse
Silhouette
After the sun set we took a little break and wait for the stars to show up. We had planned for the milky way core to line up above the piers just as it got dark enough, but we missed it by that much. The core lines up better in July, these were taken in August.
Look to stars
Then we moved the pole out to try some different compositions.
Touch the sky
And tried some different focal length for fun. These two were with an 85mm f/1.8.

This one is with a 30mm f/1.4 aps-c lens or 45mm equivalent on full frame.
