Biden’s ‘Green' Infrastructure Plan Would Actually Hurt the Environment, Top Economist Warns

In some ways, Biden's proposal is a light version of the Green New Deal, including $10 billion to create a “Civilian Climate Corps,” $20 billion for “racial equity and environmental justice,” $175 billion for electric vehicle subsidies, and even money to make school lunches “greener.”But one prominent economist is warning that the supposedly “green” plan would actually backfire and leave the global environment worse off.

Vague phrases like "racial equity and environmental justice" along with organizations of questionable purpose like a "Civilian Climate Corps" are terrifying enough. However, even worse...or at least equally bad...ok, also just bad...is the fact that none of this spending is likely to actually make the environment better.

A large part of what such spending bills do is to make it more expensive in the U.S. to produce "dirty" things. The problem with this approach is that drives the manufacture of such things to other countries where environmental restrictions are less than what they already are in the U.S. The end result being worse for the environment. This is the same reason that all those climate accords that exempt countries like China are absolutely useless (at least in terms of their stated goals).

Another thing that makes such spending bill so absurd is the fact that "infrastructure" is arguably the primary purpose of paying taxes in the first place. What are they doing with the trillions in taxes they already collect and spend? Clearly it's not what they should be doing or we wouldn't need trillions in additional spending.
