Critical Race Theory, and Mask Mandates...
In the above photo my wife @QueenBee1977 is holding a megaphone so a youngster can voice how she feels about what is being taught in the Grand Ledge Michigan Public School system. A very good friend of ours, a lady named Amber, is very active in protesting Critical Race Theory and Mask Mandates in the School. Her daughter came home one day and told her that a teacher had made all the "white" students apologize to the people of color in the class. That was one kid. The teacher thought it was a good idea to have an entire class apologize to one kid for things they had nothing to do with, and that was the last straw for Amber. She sued the school board and began to organize protests. My wife and I have been going to support her and the community, even though we do not have kids in the school. People have been silent for too long, and it is time to make our voices heard.
Getting Organized...
Amber is the lady holding the megaphone. During the time she has been calling out the School Board, she has been attacked on social media relentlessly, called names from "white supremacist," and "Trumper," to "Q-Anon," and much worse. All of this because she believes in personal accountability, and real science, not everything the mainstream media shows on the nightly news. Critical Race Theory in itself is dangerous and has no place being taught in our schools, but the fact that the school board hired someone for ninety nine thousand dollars a year to teach it to the teachers was what prompted the lawsuit. They did not allow any community discussions, and they did everything in secret against the "open meetings act" eventually approving it disregarding parental objections.
The Pre Meeting Protest
These are the people that showed up to protest and garner support before the actual meeting. Cars were going by and honking to show support. There was one lady, walking her dog, and wearing a mask, that wanted to heckle us. I simply asked her what she was afraid of, and why she was wearing a mask while she walked her dog. She snorted and walked away. It amazes me the ignorance of people, walking, alone with a dog. Where are you going to get sick? Are the trees spreading Covid now?
Anyway, it was clear from the reactions we got while being out there that the community as whole agreed with what we were out there for. Unfortunately, the School Board voted to approve both the teaching of Critical Race Theory, and mandatory masking of children in school. The lawsuit is still pending, and Amber has decided to remove her child from school, which is the choice a lot of the parents there are making.
These battles are just getting started, and it is my recommendation that everyone go to every meeting they can, every time. School boards, city councils, they all need to know that "We the people" are watching them, and they will be held accountable. Worrying about sports and money is what got us into this mess, because while you were worrying about how green your grass was, the "powers that be" were busy getting people elected that want to destroy your way of life.
