Melancholy, an original poem

melancholy.jpg

Her melancholy gaze on those melancholy days
Will forever scar your soul
A window facing in, to her dark world of sin
But her truth will never be told
Hiding all the pain, with nothing left to gain
Her hardened shell makes her look cold
She’s wearing fake grins, while battling within
All the while it’s spilling out uncontrolled
Barely holding on, her sanity is gone
She’s being swallowed by this sinkhole

When will it end, because she can’t pretend
That she is strong enough to stay
The wounds are too deep and they just won’t mend
Sometimes it’s easier to just fade away

Her melancholy gaze has lead her astray
Into a place that’s just pretend
It’s full of broken dreams and some child’s play
She doesn’t understand that it will be her end
The time is wasted, emotions thrown away
Tripping along inside, trapped once again
It takes its toll, daily struggles, always afraid
Will she ever make amends
Will life get it’s revenge

When will it end, because she can’t pretend
That she is strong enough to stay
The wounds are too deep and they just won’t mend
Sometimes it’s easier to just fade away
Than to feel that pain
Easier to fade than feel that pain
