Flowers to Angels
floral cherubs
earthly sisters
with no heavenly
fraternity
waltz a furious
pas de deux
in an Eden glade
sashaying
dew hewn
petals and frills
vie for a turn
with a fickle wind
a gentle tattoo
petals against current
quiver and undulation
purity and passion
a pringtemps paso doble
his ardent momentary kisses
left them both wanting more
they sway for the love miser
bloom until their hearts burst
May mist, June dapple
July heat, August thirst
golden coronas char
dew is dissolved to dust
petals fade and brown
still the sisters dance
the wind finally returns his caresses
our flowers perform their swan dance
withered petals and dimmed hues
cascade and flutter
the finale turnabout
has given them wings
one last chance at flight
one last fall
petals to detritus
detritus to soil
nakedness to seed
flowers to angels
