Another Great Podcast | Alex Gladstein on Lex Fridman | Bitcoin, Human Rights, Decentralized Social Media :)

A great talk, highly recommended.
Alex is talking about how Bitcoin can help people under authoritarian regimes.

Some key points:

  • 53% of people on the planet leave under authoritarian rulers,
  • 87% of the countries have highly inflatable currency!
  • BTC seen as a Trojan horse, where countries and corporations adopt it out of greed because numbers go up, but freedom comes with it,
  • decentralized social media is extremely important, Alex mention Mastadon (not Hive :( )
  • Alex is contemplating around a "federated model" for social media, where you choose to which benevolent dictator you go :)

The parallels between the things mentioned in the podcast about decentralized social media and what we have on Hive with tribes and soon other interfaces is astonishing.
Lex keeps repeating about the transparency about the data you share and what is recorded from the platforms, so the users decided what and how much data they are willing to share. Can't get more transparent then the text stored on a blockhchian :)

Alex is a human rights activist, so the talk for BTC and decentralized social media starts a bit later, after the first hour.

At this point, and the obvious interest that is around decentralized social media, I think we should give it a go and reach out to Lex Fridman and organize a podcast to tell the amazing story about Hive. Tagging a few @blocktrades, @theycallmedan, @khaleelkazi, @lordbutterfly, @jarvie, @lukestokes, @aggroed, @yabapmatt ....

Might be a long shot, but having in mind what else is there what takes credits, Hive is a far ahead ...
