Jeder hat seine Spuren im endlos, digitalen Netz auf dieser Welt hinterlassen. Die Spuren machen uns im Internet sichtbar und gläsern. Wie weit will man diesen Weg beschreiten?

The Digital Man No1
This picture was taken in January 2021.
The head shown is a dummy, interchangeable, emotionless, a Mister Smith. The zeros and ones cast their shadows on it. He cannot escape from his digital cage and thus cannot escape the digital shadow that rests on him like a brand. The numbers projected onto the head were generated using a home-made projector. The orb of red numbers was drawn with my ORBOMAT. I will write more about these two tools in a later post.

Der abgebildete Kopf ist ein Dummy, austauschbar, emotionslos, ein Mister Smith. Auf ihm werfen die Nullen und Einsen ihre Schatten. Er kann nicht aus seinem digitalen Käfig entweichen und somit dem digitalen Schatten nicht entfliehen, die wie eine Brandmarkung auf ihm ruhen. Die auf den Kopf projizierten Nummern wurden mit einem selbstgebauten Projektor erzeugt. Der Orb aus roten Zahlen wurden mit meinem ORBOMAT gemalt. Zu diesen beiden Tools werde ich in einem späterem Post mehr schreiben.

The Digital Man No2
The Digital Man opens his cage. For this idea I had to make my LED matrix mobile (battery pack, voltage converter and a piece of drain pipe as a handle and housing). More on that soon.
First, my self-made projector and an LEDLenser P7 were used to illuminate the mask. I illuminated the eyes with a mini-Ledlenser. Focal length for this part of the shot was 60mm.
My Orbomat rotated the orb with the LED matrix. The pulse on time was chosen so short that the "BITs" do not blur through the movement. I exposed the mask by covering the lens while the ORBOMAT was doing its work. After that I put the matrix on my new battery grip and a few bits were placed on the floor in front of the orb. Focal length here was 30mm.

Der Digital Man öffnet seinen Käfig. Für diese Idee musste ich meine LED-Matrix mobil machen (Akkupack, Spannungswandler und ein Stück Abflussrohr als Handgriff und Gehäuse). Auch dazu demnächst mehr.
Zuerst kam mein Selbstgebastelter Projektor und eine LEDLenser P7 zur Ausleuchtung der Maske zum Einsatz. Die Augen habe ich mit einer Mini-Ledlenser beleuchtet. Brennweite für diesen Teil der Aufnahme war 60mm.
Den Orb hat mein Orbomat mit der LED-Matrix gedreht. Dabei wurde der Takt der Einschaltzeit so kurz gewählt, dass die "BITs" nicht durch die Bewegung verwischen. Die Maske habe ich, während der ORBOMAT seine Arbeit verrichtete, durch Abdecken des Objektivs freigestellt. Danach habe ich die Matrix auf meinen neuen Akkugriff eingesetzt und ein paar Bits wurden noch auf den Boden vor den Orb gelegt. Brennweite hier war 30mm.

The Digital Man explodes his cage. I "painted" the mask with black glass fiber. To make the ORB explode, I changed the focal length of the zoom lens during the exposure.
Der Digital Man sprengt seinen Käfig. Die Maske "bemalte" ich mit schwarzem Glasfieber. Um den ORB zur explosion zu bringen, veränderte ich die Brennweite des Zoom-Objektivs während der Belichtung.
WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?
Light painting is a unique form of art. The darkness is illuminate by the artist with diverse light sources and light traces are paint into the picture with various light tools. Various techniques are use, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. All the pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, the pictures are not processed on the computer.
