Nikon D3100 is the result of long evolution of Nikon in realizing the most ideal beginner DSLR. Since the success of Nikon D40 in 2007, Nikon is a bit lazy to surprise and tend to continue the Nikon D40 with almost similar products, the D40x and D60. Even when the D3000 is introduced, Nikon does not want to provide live view feature let alone movie mode.
