Just like steemit is replacing fakebook by offering users more than just social media, LBRY is offering users a chance to get off youtube and stock photo sites.
Although many already realized that google was a technosnitch, Edward Snowden released detailed slides showing google's involvement in unrestrained mass surveilance. Today google owns youtube and few have an alternative for sharing digital media. Now a new company has emerged using blockchain technology.
There is a waiting list but you could be among the first to register. I am not affiliated in any way with LBRY. I only see it as a promising development in the area of blockchain technology and the potential to share digital media without big tech companies. At least people can get paid with the LBRY concept.
LBRY is opensource and the code is available on github. I look forward to using this service. LBRY proposes to specialize in digital art. As a photographer I certainly want to avoid sites like istock.com or getty that only pays in fiat currency. LBRY pays in crypto.
