### Brillante soledad

De nuevo estaba nevando, pero en mi refugio era una tranquilidad que se palpaba. Había renunciado a todo, a las luces brillantes, a los sonidos estridentes y a las aglomeraciones. Muchos lo llamaban aislamiento, pero para mi era una bendición. Tal vez fue la manera en la que sucedió todo, pero los tiempos hay que respetarlos. En cuanto la brisa sopla fuerte y la innegable dificultad de respirar y pensar nos invade, es el momento para dar un paso atrás o un salto que nos lleve más lejos de lo que imaginamos.

La belleza y la paz del silencio al inicio fue abrumador, no todos estamos acostumbrados a pasar tiempo con nosotros mismos, pero el pánico se desvaneció con los días y el arcoíris trajo consigo una oportunidad inigualable, conocerme realmente. Es sencillo perder de vista lo que significamos y lo que valemos cuando estamos rodeados de soportes. Y aunque eso no es algo negativo, si somos forzados a este tipo de situación es normal que la aborrezcamos.

Mudarme para muchos había sido una locura, pero los gritos y las alarmas me habían hundido en una fosa que por poco me ahoga. Siendo una cantante con alguno que otro reconocimiento, las miradas eran una constante y la persecución un gaje del oficio, pero ya había tenido suficiente. Un día de otoño me diagnosticaron con TDAH y todo comenzó a tener sentido.

El diagnostico daba respuestas a comportamientos que nadie comprendía antes, pero para las adulaciones recurrentes, solo lo habían justificado con estrés o excentricidades de celebridad. En realidad, esas palabras del neurólogo y de mi psicólogo de confianza, me habían traído alivio. Ahora conocía una razón. Era increíble como a estas alturas de mi vida, siendo una mujer adulta, podía conocer cosas que aún no sabía sobre mí. En mi infancia no había tenido la oportunidad de tener acceso a este tipo de atención, así que un dolor de cabeza había dejado ver más que una cefalea. Entonces comencé a querer más por mi salud.

Solo tenía a mi madre y a mi esposo, así que luego de compartirles la noticia, expuse cual quería que fueran mis siguientes pasos. Una mudanza a la región montañosa podía sonar a demencia, pero ambos estaban tan felices de que me enfocara en mi misma y mi bienestar, que sin dudarlo habían accedido. Me preguntaba cómo seria la humanidad si todos tuvieran esa clase de apoyo en sus vidas.

¿Qué hubiera sucedido si ellos hubieran actuado de manera distinta? Por supuesto que hubiera priorizado mi bienestar. ¿Pero sería lo que realmente hubiera hecho? ¿O me sentiría culpable por querer algo distinto a lo que siempre había tenido y ellos al sentirse arrastrados pondrían sobre mis hombros culpa y resentimiento, haciéndome abandonar la idea? Sonaba terrible, pero a veces las personas se comportaban de esa manera, imponiendo culpas y sentimientos negativos sobre los demás, solo porque eso no les favorece. El mundo podía llegar a ser un lugar bastante engañoso y cruel.

Pero esta vez, de todos los escenarios posibles, la sinceridad y el amor me acompañaban, la decisión había sido tomada. Lejos de la prensa y en control con el asesoramiento médico que necesitaba y antes no había tenido, la rutina había cambiado para mejor. Me levantaba temprano por la mañana y caminaba por senderos en el bosque. Adentrarme en la naturaleza me había ayudado tanto a acceder a esa paz que no había tenido. Podía escuchar el susurro del viento danzando entre los árboles, el canto de las aves y ese olor tan infravalorado del aire fresco, que llenaba mis pulmones y me maravillaba sin importar las veces que saliera a disfrutarlo.

La mayoría del tiempo estaba sola, ya no más guardaespaldas, no más fotógrafos ni fans, ni horarios que agotaban. Este tiempo era mío. Con mi madre y mi esposo trabajando en el hospital local, porque eso es lo que amaban como personal de la salud, nunca había tenido tanto tiempo de introspección. Y era agradable.

Durante mis caminatas reflexioné sobre mi vida, encontrando respuestas a preguntas que me inquietaban, todas estaban en mí. La soledad me permitía darle la oportunidad a mi voz interior de conectar con mis pensamientos y replantearme metas, objetivos e incluso enseñanzas. Había tantas cosas que no había detallado antes, que no había sabido cómo manejar, pero estaba aprendiendo. En la soledad no había distracciones ni preocupaciones mundanas, ahora entendía a las personas que hacían retiros espirituales o simplemente se tomaban un año sabático para decidir lo que harían con su vida. Eso siempre me había parecido un lujo o incluso una pérdida de tiempo, pero la verdad era que si obtenías algo a cambio, a ti mismo.

Los propósitos se veían más claros y las pasiones afloraban, incluso descubrías talentos ocultos, era un viaje filosófico. En mi soledad experimenté con la pintura y pronto se convirtió en más que un pasatiempo. Cantar me había llevado a liberarme, pero pintar me abrió puertas a una conexión distinta, era mi manera de conectarme con el mundo de una manera más profunda. Mi corazón se enternecía con los atardeceres y el silencio de mi soledad dejó de asustarme o incomodarme. Comencé a sentirme a gusto.

Fue así que la soledad y el silencio se convirtió en mi refugio, en mi inspiración, en mi disfrute y en un regalo que podía permitirme. Los años pasaron y con el tiempo me sentí más preparada para afrontar ciertas cosas que antes no había considerado, como el ser mamá. Así que hoy en día con un par de amigos más y tras haberme preparado en el mundo del arte, aconsejaba a todo el que preguntara, que la soledad era una buena opción en muchos casos. Las respuestas comenzaban a brillar en la oscuridad y el norte de tu vida instintivamente te comenzaba a guiar.

En la soledad, te encontrabas a ti mismo, en una verdad que antes no lograbas ver.

### Bright solitude

It was snowing again, but in my shelter it was a palpable tranquility. I had given up everything, the bright lights, the shrill sounds and the crowds. Many called it isolation, but for me it was a blessing. Maybe it was the way it all happened, but times must be respected. As soon as the breeze blows hard and the undeniable difficulty to breathe and think invades us, it is time to take a step back or a leap that takes us further than we imagined.

The beauty and peace of the silence at first was overwhelming, not all of us are used to spending time with ourselves, but the panic faded with the days and the rainbow brought with it an unparalleled opportunity, to really get to know me. It's easy to lose sight of what we mean and what we're worth when we're surrounded by supports. And while that's not a bad thing, if we are forced into this kind of situation it's normal to loathe it.

Moving for many had been crazy, but the screams and alarms had plunged me into a pit that almost drowned me. Being a singer with some recognition, the stares were a constant and the persecution an occupational hazard, but I had had enough. One autumn day I was diagnosed with ADHD and everything started to make sense.

The diagnosis gave answers to behaviors that no one understood before, but for the recurrent flattery, they had only justified it with stress or celebrity eccentricities. Actually, those words from the neurologist and my trusted psychologist had brought me relief. I now knew a reason. It was amazing how at this point in my life, as a grown woman, I could know things I didn't yet know about myself. In my childhood I hadn't had the opportunity to have access to this kind of care, so a headache had let on more than a headache. Then I began to want more for my health.

I only had my mother and my husband, so after sharing the news with them, I laid out what I wanted my next steps to be. A move to the hill country might sound like insanity, but they were both so happy for me to focus on myself and my well-being, that without hesitation they had agreed. I wondered what humanity would be like if everyone had that kind of support in their lives.

What would have happened if they had acted differently? Of course I would have prioritized my welfare, but would that really be what I would have done? Or would I feel guilty for wanting something other than what I had always had and they would feel dragged down and put guilt and resentment on my shoulders, making me give up on the idea? It sounded terrible, but sometimes people behaved that way, imposing blame and negative feelings on others, just because it didn't suit them. The world could become quite a deceitful and cruel place.

But this time, of all possible scenarios, sincerity and love were with me, the decision had been made. Away from the press and in control with the medical advice I needed and had not had before, the routine had changed for the better. I would get up early in the morning and walk on trails in the woods. Getting into nature had helped me so much to access that peace I hadn't had. I could hear the whisper of the wind dancing through the trees, the birds singing and that underrated smell of fresh air, which filled my lungs and amazed me no matter how many times I went out to enjoy it.

Most of the time I was alone, no more bodyguards, no more photographers or fans, no more exhausting schedules. This time was mine. With my mother and husband working at the local hospital, because that's what they loved as healthcare staff, I'd never had so much time for introspection. And it was nice.

During my walks I reflected on my life, finding answers to questions that troubled me, they were all in me. The solitude allowed me to give my inner voice a chance to connect with my thoughts and rethink goals, objectives and even teachings. There were so many things I hadn't detailed before, that I hadn't known how to handle, but I was learning. In solitude there were no distractions or worldly concerns, I now understood people who went on spiritual retreats or simply took a sabbatical year to decide what they would do with their lives. That had always seemed like a luxury or even a waste of time, but the truth was that if you got something in return, you got yourself.

Purpose became clearer and passions surfaced, you even discovered hidden talents, it was a philosophical journey. In my solitude I experimented with painting and soon it became more than a hobby. Singing had led me to liberation, but painting opened doors to a different connection, it was my way of connecting with the world in a deeper way. My heart was warmed by the sunsets and the silence of my solitude no longer frightened or bothered me. I began to feel at ease.

So it was that solitude and silence became my refuge, my inspiration, my enjoyment and a gift I could afford. The years passed and with time I felt more prepared to face certain things that I had not considered before, such as being a mom. So today with a couple of other friends and having prepared myself in the art world, I would advise anyone who asked, that solitude was a good option in many cases. The answers began to glow in the dark and the north of your life instinctively began to guide you.

In solitude, you found yourself in a truth you could not see before.
