Bright gems

Have a nice day! Do you like jewelry made of natural ornamental stones, gems and minerals?

Sometimes there are simply amazing specimens. Probably many ladies will understand me. I rarely pass by such kits. Although I do not wear such jewelry myself, but I like to consider all the details.

Probably it was necessary to be born in the time of Bazhov, would now be the mistress of the Copper mountain :-)

For some reason, I always liked green stones: emerald, malachite, jade, and others. During my school years, I read so much about minerals and gems.

Green is the color of life and health, so natural minerals of emerald shades were given great importance. It is believed that stones of a shade of fresh green calm the nerves, prolong life and bring harmony. In addition to these qualities, jewelers and buyers appreciate "herbal" gems for their rich color.

It turns out that even the Emperor Nero watched Gladiator fights through an emerald cabochon. But I'm not an Emperor and I still don't have such a cabochon, but there are many other interesting and original things.

I like both the serpentine and the charoite, but I'm pretty cool with corals.

Did you know that since ancient times, jewelers learned to change the color of the stone using heating and various substances-honey, copper sulfate, ochre and meerkat.

For example, turquoise, which often ages and turns green from contact with the human body, was impregnated to preserve the color with paraffin or wax. But agates were kept in sugar syrup, and then burned in furnaces, getting color contrasting onyx. Morion's crystals had to be tinkered with. They were even baked in a dough to get Golden citrines. And who knows how the Golden sand was formed?

Of course, Jasper and rhodonite, malachite and dolomite, charoite and Selenite were popular in Russia - the list of such stones is large.

Due to the fact that stone is the most ancient natural material, there is no obsolescence of technologies in this area, and many jewelers and stone cutters still process gems manually using ancient techniques.

And that fabulous stone flower that comes to life under the sensitive hand of Danila the master is not a metaphor, but the natural everyday life of stone-cutting artists, who still work to make the beautiful creations of nature appear before us in all their glory.

Many will say that according to the classification of academician Fersman, only transparent stones could be considered gems, regardless of which group they belong to, and opaque copies are usually referred to as colored stones.

However, now the term "gems" can be used in relation to any mineral, whether it is an ornamental or precious stone.

And all these natural stones have a lot of useful properties for our body, but these are topics for other posts :-)

Thank you for Your attention and visit. I appreciate Your feedback and comments. I wish you luck and have a nice day!

Best wishes,
