When my daughter asked me a little over a year ago for a fish, I didn't hesitate. I walked right into Petsmart said to the lady what do we need and got it all.
We decided to go with a male betta. An easy fish to begin with that didn't require much....or so I thought.
Fast forward to today and my 20$ investment has amounted to almost 200$!!!
We've upgraded his tank 3 times, added a heater, had to change the filter, needed to buy bacteria and water conditioner, new decorations, algae disks, cleaning vacuum, and the list goes on.
We even added a snail towards the end of 2017. An unusual pet for most, but my daughter was thrilled by the idea. I must admit I was kinda excited myself. Her snail has been an awesome adventure and pretty cool to watch.
Check out some awesome shots I got of Starla...
Up til now this was all ok but 2018 you are keeping me on my toes! What started out as a fun adventure has me living mommy stress.
When the 1st Blaze passed on, I really had the intention of telling her. As I began to say it, I saw her face and I knew i could't break her heart. So Blaze was simply at the Petsmart Hospital and came home looking better and healthier A.K.A Blaze #2.
Our new Blaze had a better personality, a brighter colour and over all a much healthier prettier look.
Happy to put this experience behind us I happily followed all the trusted Petsmart employees recommendations. All seemed well, then 2 days later Starla died.
Now we have Starla #2 and Blaze #2. Everything is going well. Blaze #2 seems more entertaining, but the downfall is Starla #2 is kinda boring compared to Starla the original. Regardless we love them and they are a part of our family!
Didn't take long for the Fairy Tale to end.
Yesterday Blaze #2 died. I found Starla #2 eating his remains. I quickly scooped him up with a sample of the tank water and heading to Petsmart. With my little one at school it was safe to figure out this situation. Turns out our Tank water wasn't doing so well.
We now have Starla #2 and Blaze #3. I hope all goes well.
This morning Blaze #3 had a case of Swim Bladder but with a bit more heat he was able to overcome it thankfully and pass a poop.
Yep in true mom fashion I got excited about my fish baby passing a poop!
If anything at least i'm learning a lot of useful knowledge about bettas and snails!
Always looking on the positive side. :)
All I know is i'm determined to make sure my daughter is happy and totally oblivious to the fact that were on our 3rd fish and 2nd snail!!!
The joys of being a parent!
After all this i'm thinking probably would of been easier to get her another dog!
Follow me to find out about our next pets...a pet cow and tiger are next up on her list! ;)
