My grandparents lived in a small village at the base of Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain in continental Portugal. I love coming here, the place is full of memories and I relax almost instantly as soon as I arrive. Yet, life, pandemy, and I don't know what else... and almost two years since I came here!
But as I arrived late at night, feeling the nature's scent and hearing owls was enough to make me feel at home again. And today, was time to bring back some memories... and create new ones!
This is the view on the way to a swimming pool, with the mountain in the background. But wayyy better than swimming pools... are the natural swimming pools offered by the mountain rivers. I came here so many times and today, found a new swimming spot!
A small path in the woods was cleared, and a new gem was found, so close to rhe village's houses.
And it's not only humans that like these hidden places... cows love them too! Between the tree's shade and the cold water, they are a perfect place to cool off from the heat.
Small little places like this are common in another small river further away, where I spent a good part of my summers. Hitchhiking was common, since it is only 2km away. Noticed that there are more and more people enjoying them, but fortunately most of them are still hidden from big crowds.
Writing posts on mobile is a pain... but had to share some of my happiness od seeing these places with you. Feels great to come back.
