Caleta Tortel is one of the most famous tourist spots on the southern highway in Chile, it is a very special town since it does not have streets, only cypress wooden walkways that run throughout the town connecting houses, squares and common areas. It is located in a bay formed by the fjords of the region, very close to the southern ice field. Until a few years ago it was only accessible by sea, but now there is an extension of 20 km of gravel to reach the town.

We could not refuse to visit Caleta Tortel since we were so close, and the truth that it is worth it for the uniqueness that it is, the extension of its walkways, the views, the tranquility and the silence of not seeing cars or motorcycles, all that makes it special and gives it that warm touch. On the other hand I was a little surprised by the amount of garbage I found, it was somewhat neglected, it may be just my experience for being there for only one day, or maybe not.

I assumed that the town had an ecological sense that does not exist. I left with a strange feeling of having known a famous and very beautiful place but with a strong contrast to the naked eye, something that usually happens with tourist sites that neglect cleaning a little and give more importance to profits. Anyway, I recommend getting to know Caleta Tortel and getting your own impression of the place!
