London Street Photography With The New Ricoh GR III.

So today I managed to stretch my legs while socially distancing on public transport and hop into the big city with the new Ricoh GR III. As you can see from the quality of the images, the camera was worth every penny, although I have to admit having been so used to zoom lenses, I did struggle with the fixed 18mm (28mm equivalent).

I spent most of the time shooting aperture priority and using the marvellous "expose for highlights" mode on the Ricoh which really allows you to get the high contrast shots without blowing out highlights. If things come out dark due to this, then it's quite easy to recover the shadows in post.

I spent most of the day looking for high contrast shots but a lot seemed to go against me. When the sun was out in the morning, London was literally dead. I have a phone shot of The Mall with not a single person on it. As people started to show up, the cloud cover came over and everything became a bit diffused.

I'm back in a few weeks so will have another go, maybe visit some different spots.
