Larch Bolete (Suillus grevillei)

Good day dear Hive Community, as always I hope that you are all well and that you had a day that was full of good experiences! In this post, I would like to present one or the other photo of mushrooms and want to describe it in more detail.

Here you can see an edible mushroom which is also known under the name Larch Bolete and scientifically Suillus grevillei. This fungus is particularly common in Europe and can usually be found in forests near larches and the best time to collect is between June and November. Depending on the specimen, the fungus can grow between 5 and 10 cm high and one of the most important characteristics is the golden yellow hat, which also has a luminous and slightly reflective appearance. The stem has a yellow color and at first the fungus is hard and becomes softer with increasing age and the slats have a yellow and brown appearance and the fungus was first described in 1945.

Larch Bolete is usually easy to determine and there are almost no doubles, but if you are not 100% sure, you should always leave the mushroom. During the season it is a common mushroom and as an edible mushroom it has a mild and mushroom-like taste and can be used well for various dishes. It is important to know that you should fry the mushroom and not consume it raw and you can also dry or freeze it well like other mushrooms to store it. It is recommended to remove the stems before preparation and the younger specimens taste best and it is rich in numerous active ingredients that can have a positive effect on health.
