looking at your pics and realizing "damn I am getting old". But you know what, that is something to celebrate. A childhood friend I hadn't really talked to in a bit, I got word that he died from Covid 19 and he was younger than me. I know his family and himself would be grateful if he lived to see his hair graying or balding...or both. RIP Jay P. Dear reader, always remember to give thanks for life!
The ritual
Every quarter possible, for the last year and a bit, Lindy and I made it a thing to link up at Starbucks and chat a bit about work and life...well she does most of the talking, I just listen and nod my head and blurt out a few comments now and then. The last time I paid, so this time she had the honor.. yes the honor of treating a friend and being in the money flow.
The mall was packed as usually, students being on spring break added to the fuel as well. Starbucks was particularly packed with selfie taking young gals and groups of above middle aged women doing what they do....gossiping. Hahaha jokes...but there is high possibility that is what they were doing.
So we sat outside in the spring chilled air with our fuckIfIknow Frappuccinos. And some mini cheesecake things.
After some time of chatting we saw our friend/coworker Janica coming form the distance with her freshly bought loot. Well the truth is I saw Janaica in the parking lot and told her I was gonna meet up with Lindy and she asked if it was ok to join in,
"Girl this ain't no date, of course you can join in"
" But are you sure Lindy won't mind"
" Hmm...in that case just show up like you didn't see me and join in".
So she showed up and of course the first thing lindy wants to do is take a 3 way selfie. So of course I grabbed those pics for the HIVE..not for the gram.
Ummm So what's the point of this post?
Well, it is just to cherish this moment in time, a physical encounter. Something we took for granted just a few months ago. Looking at the situation in Jamaica and other places around the world, we are quite free here in Japan to do as we please. It grieves me to hear what's taking place in Jamaica, 600 cases in a week with a population of about 3M is concerning. I pray my country will get through this but it won't be an easy road, Jamaica shall rise Bless Up UnuSelf!
