I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up a huge batch of slides a while back. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. These were from Goodwill and eBay. There are many thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here mainly because I find them an interesting way to look back at the past.
I don't know a whole lot about the ultimate origins of this batch of slides other than they came from Goodwill. Like previous batches, these too often have a date stamped on them that I assume indicates when the film was developed and I believe in most cases should give approximate dating for the photograph itself. So far these seem like mostly vacation photos that were taken in the 1960s and 1970s. I've identified places in Italy, France, Mexico, and Hawaii so far.
Like the last set, all of these slides were processed in August 1970.
The first looks like it was probably taken at a gift shop in Pinocchio Park which is in Italy. Other photos of this place have appeared in previous sets.
Google image search helped me identify the second photo as the Florence Cathedral in Florency, Italy. Construrction on this cathedral began in 1296 where a much older structure once stood, however it took more than 100 years to complete.
The third photo looks like it was taken in someone's house though I assume this was in Italy as well. Perhaps whoever owned these photos was visiting family or friends.
Google image search once again helped me identify the last photo. This is San Miniato al Monte which is a basilica in Florence, Italy that sits on one of the highest points in that city. Construction began in 1013.
