I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up a huge batch of slides a while back. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. These were from Goodwill and eBay. There are many thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here mainly because I find them an interesting way to look back at the past.
I don't know a whole lot about the ultimate origins of this batch of slides other than they came from Goodwill. Like previous batches, these too often have a date stamped on them that I assume indicates when the film was developed and I believe in most cases should give approximate dating for the photograph itself. So far these seem like mostly vacation photos that were taken in the 1960s and 1970s. I've identified places in Italy, France, Mexico, and Hawaii so far.
All of the photos in this set were processed in July 1975. The first one nicely pinpoints a location as it features a woman standing in front of a sign that says, allowing for a few blocked letters, "Hanauma Bay? Beach? Park, Department of ???, City and County of Honolulu. Presumably this is the same place that is Hanauma Bay State Park today. Given the same dating, I suspect the others in this set were also taken somewhere in Hawaii.
The second photo features women playing in the surf. This is almost certainly the same park written on the sign in the photo above.
The third photo features four women posing for a photo near what is almost certainly the same beach as above.
The last photo is harder to pinpoint. Given the same date stamp and the fact that I can see palm trees in the background I'm reasonably sure that this was probably also taken in Hawaii. However, it appears to be a grocery store parking lot so that is pretty ubiquitous. I can see "Star Super Market" on the front of one of the carts. It would appear that cars have changed a lot more than shopp carts and cart corals since 1975...
