How's 2021 treating everyone so far? We made it to Shaker Village a couple hours ago and had just enough time to drop our stuff in our room and go out and take a few photos with the last hour or so of sunlight. I'm writing this on my phone (a first for me) and thought I'd throw up a few phone photos to give y'all a taste of the place to tide you over until I can do a proper post.
It's a neat little place that's been here since the early 1800s. The Shakers were a celibate, religious society and an offshoot of the Quakers. Their first missionaries arrived in central Kentucky in 1805 and their converts soon set up their own communities, of which Pleasant Hill was one.
I will get more into the history of this place in my next post when I've had time to see and read more.

We're staying in one of the buildings here, the Old Stone Shop that was built in 1811.
Among other things, the Shakers were noted for their craftsmanship, particularly woodworking. It's been rather neat looking at how everything is put together. Time to track down some vittles, I will post more soon so stay tuned!
