Emotional Day in Louisville

Tears 1 s.jpg

Kentucky's attorney general announced his findings in the Breonna Taylor case today, and the results were much as I had feared. The only officer to face charges got them for the rounds he'd fired into another apartment, none of the charges were due to the killing of Breonna Taylor. What's more, his bond was only set at $15,000.

The raw emotion in the park in the aftermath of the announcement defies description--anger, betrayal, disbelief, anguish-- they all seem inadequate to describe it but are the closest approximation that I can find words for. The impromptu march that started in response to the announcement has already been met with arrests and pepper balls, the National Guard is in town, and we now have a 9pm curfew for the next 72 hours. I'm writing this on a brief break to recharge on calories and camera batteries and then I'm heading back downtown. I probably won't be responding to much for a bit (or longer, depending on whether they enforce the curfew this time), but if you don't mind, keep Louisville in your thoughts.
