It is Castle Monday again!
The castle was built in the years 1488-1491. After a fire in 1618, it lost its function as a local powerhouse. In 1620 the Emperor Ferdinand II gave the castle together with the rule of Gratzen to his Field Marshal Buquoy. In the early 20th century, the castle, remained in the possession of the Buquoy family until the expropriation in 1945. The castle was repeatedly renovated and saved from decay. In the years of communism, it declined rapidly and after the Velvet Revolution was in private ownership. From the year 2000, restoration work began on a Gothic chapel with poorly preserved frescoes.
