Hi Folks!
I went to the forest with my family yesterday to check the situation with mushrooms - and it doesn't look good...
Extremely long period of dry and very hot weather this summer in Poland made the ground dried out.
During the 2,5 hours walk we found just 2 mushrooms - ONLY two and I am not saying about edible mushrooms but ANY mushrooms...
We checked different kinds of forest - the ground is empty...
Mushroom picking is a great activity - not only we can make a good meal from them but also we can spend time together outdoor, exploring and having great fun.
In Poland it is also some kind of tradition, many people in autumn season go to the forests with baskets and looking for the favorite ones.
This year - I don't see big chances for a good season. The mushroom spores cannot grow in such dry ground. To have any hope we need a week or two of rain. It takes a lot of time to feed the forest floor with water.
Time will show...
