The Atherton tablelands are just outside Cairns in Queensland Australia - I say just outside, but really it's about an hour's drive. But it's worth it.
The tablelands are the forgotten highlight of a highlight of a trip to Cairns - people will tell you about the reef, the beaches and the Daintree and they are all great, but a side trip to the Tablelands is worth it to.
And one of the highlights of the Tablelands is Davies Creek Creek falls. Davies creek itself is quite nice, but it worth driving the five or so minute up a dirt track to the top of the hill to get to the fdalsl. From the car park it's about a 5 minute walk about a third of the way back down the hill you just drove up.
When you get to the falls you'll be amazed at their sheer size, and the fact that there is almost no one else around. I understand we are in COVID times but seriously we were the only people there which should be possible for a waterfall this good.
The falls themselves are about a 100m drop from top to bottom, and unusually for most waterfalls you are viewing them from near the top so the water is rushing past you.
If you find yourself in Cairns, get off the beaten track a little and head to Daview Creek Falls it is absolutely worth the trip.
