Refractography - Light Painting

Empty your wine glass - refracting light

Well, we looked far into that wine glass before - Let us have another look at shapes we can get through Refractography. It is super simple to achieve cool results. Try yourself. Last time I was hesitant to share so many of it. (see the making off video down below) These are the last two from my recent shooting.

The principle stays the same: The camera is all open without even a lens and a refraction object is in front of the camera. One, two, or even 3 light sources are positioned to shed the refractions onto the sensor of the camera. For this shot, it is only the one white one.

With some small twists to the side, the shapes and the patterns change.

Pro Tip:

Make sure your light sources are as small as possible. Just tape your light source and pinch a hole into the tape. Good enough. See here, this is how I did it.

The second option like in the 'making of video', takes your light source far away. I had the camera in the living room and the light in the kitchen. That was an easy 10-12m distance.

Here is how:

I really tried to keep it super short and simple.

Apart from that? Got any questions?
I am super happy to explain it in more detail if needed.
