A Morning in Solar de Mañana Geyser Basin in Bolivia

This place is characterized by extreme volcanic activity and there are tons of sulphur springs nearby, it is filled with sand lakes and steam pools with saltwater. Industrial harvesting of resources has been tried in the end of the 80s but wasn't fruitful. There are a many holes spewing gasses and the best known emits pressurized steam, observable in the morning around 50 meters high.

Solar de Mañana together with El Tatio is one of the geothermal fields found at high elevation and is connected to the volcanic system of the Altiplano-Puna volcanic complex. The Solar de Mañana a part of the geothermal system of the Laguna Colorada caldera.

I've done the Salar de Uyini tour in Bolivia, twice. The first time, I came in from Bolivia and the second time coming from Chile to enter Bolivia. This was from the first tour. If you're into crazy landscapes and just a far gone out adventure, you'd wanna go here.

Have you been to the Salar de Uyuni?
