Man has always craved power, throughout time we have found power in many ways and in many places. Where in past eras we have found this power within our relationship to nature, the modern mind finds power in absolving nature by supplanting organic processes with complete technological systems. As the modern man contemplates matter in this reality, we often observe this matter in terms of natural and unnatural. This notion of a scale of matter, ranging from the organic and natural environments and their remaining contents left on this planet, to the cityscapes of machinations seemingly devoid of mother natures presence. Or the scale between an organic virus and programed nanotechnology surely must be present in the whole of the modern mind.
On this scale of nature where have we placed ourselves conceptually? What advantages does one side of the scale have from the other? where do you place yourself? and what events or circumstances would it take to get you to the other side?
