I’m looking at my feed and this question caught my attention. From the title itself, I got confused because the answer is unclear in my head. I’m uncomfortable to just let it passed by so I did my homework. I started reading topics related to it and it was a grateful moment to see that there are also other people who answered this kind of question. The funny thing is I realized that I really know the answer; I’m just unaware that there are things I did in the past which already deals about owning and denying my emotions.

Emotions are easy to say such as excitement, happiness, sadness, anger, jealousy, fear, disgust, and madness. Yes, easy to say but hard to feel specially if we are talking about negative ones and owning them is the hardest part to do. It is the ability to take the full responsibility in everything that we feel and stop blaming others. Our ego will make us believe that we are at our weakest point once the blaming has ended. It is like a voice inside our soul that keeps on telling us that what we feel is based on what the others made us feel.

Have you ever tried to utter the following statements?

I’m not good enough that’s why he cheated on me.

The presence of her new girl made me pissed off.

I have the worst job ever because of my annoying boss.

She made me look so stupid in front of several people.

We always tend to blame others for everything that happens to us and blaming ourselves as well for their actions. As an illustration, a woman is upset because her man cheated on him. Though it is logical to think that she has the reason to blame him for her sadness, has she ever thought that it’s up to her to decide how long she will allow the sadness to ruin her life? She’s sad because she’s choosing to be sad, that’s it. We have our choices to feel the pain or move on and face the sunshine again.

Your emotions will try to dominate your way of thinking, never let your emotions to control you because you will surely end up living a miserable life. Have you imagined how many lives would have been saved if all of us own our emotions? How many wars would have been stopped if we are holding responsible in our daily mood? Crimes are usually the result of uncontrolled emotions that lead to horrible actions. To be accountable for our emotions are convincing ourselves that we have the power to control it.

Owning our emotions are not only about accepting our behavior, we must also know why we are having that kind of behavior. It is important to know what triggered us to behave in an unreasonable manner. The cause must be known in order to avoid any undesirable effect. Upon knowing the main cause, we must act accordingly. Solve the problem and never hide your feelings. Every unheard emotion is like a volcano, it will explode at any time. Always remember that emotions are powerful but you are stronger. You are the driver of your own body; emotions are just your passengers.

Philosophy in life worth pondering:

  1. One life to live, Real Life is hardcore
  2. DOING THE RIGHT THINGS OR DOING THE THINGS RIGHT
  3. DOES TRUTH NEEDS EVIDENCE
  4. THE FEAR OF LOSING WHAT YOU NEVER HAD
