New drug rehabilitation centre in the Philippines...a new DAWN.

As part of the campaign of President Duterte's war on drugs, this new facility is set to finish in November this year. Located in Nueva Ecija, northeast outside Manila, in a 10-hectare land, it will accomodate only 10,000 drug dependants. Only 1 or 2% of those more than 700, 000 users/pushers who have volunteered few months back.

Works only commenced last August and with a limited budget appropriated by the previous administration, help was sought and aid came from a Chinese tycoon. As no one could have foreseen the massive turnouts of those who volunteered, the Philippine government was overwhelmed as there were no facilities to accomodate them.

At the moment, when there will be more budget to build other facilities, other places around the country and Metro Manila is already being considered.

With 3 million users as reported, this facility can give them HOPE if they want to change, a place of refuge from the addiction that have taken them away from a life that they themselves could not have foreseen.
