Another Blast From the Past — Escura Instant 60s

There is a trend. I can’t call it new because — it’s old!

With all fantastic digital photography progress that goes to the level of magic — people still love paper! Fujifilm made an extremely good move by reviving memories of the old Polaroid film with its Instax series of instant cameras and self-developing pics. Now we have a wave of hand-cranked, battery-free printers and cameras! And we have Hong Kong-based CARBON, a brand under the Graphic Guides Design Company, which has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the Escura Instant 60s, which uses Instax Mini format, most popular, most affordable and ubiquitous os all Instaxs.

How does it work? You make a shot, and then hand-crank photo out from the top of the camera. Magic! ;)

As you would expected, construction is fairly simple with a retro 60s-inspired design, features a 60mm equivalent lens, two aperture options — F8 and F11 — and a shutter speed of roughly 1/100th of a second. For a low light situations you can use bulb shutter mode, or… wait for it! A flash!

CARBON has also developed an external flash with the appropriate retro design which is automatically synchronized with the shutter release. The Escura Instant 60s is expected to ship in February 2019. You can visit their Kickstarter Page and pledge some $55 for a single camera or more if you want add-ons, and…

…enjoy yourselfie!
