A year ago I painted Casilda Cundumí enslaved woman born in Mali (Africa) 1823 and died in 1945 (Colombia). It is said that she was the mother of 14 children. Being enslaved, she escapes and is recognized for leading a palenque with 45 maroons, causing more slaves to escape. In 1862 he joined with 200 maroons and defeated the Creole army in Palmira Valle. He died with 123 years. I found his life very interesting and although these stories are few known, they are still fascinating and worthy of widely disseminating. For this painting I used cold paint diluting it with water to give a watercolor effect and I worked on a canvas.
Hace un año pinté a Casilda Cundumí mujer esclavizada que nació en Mali (África) 1823 y murió en 1945 (Colombia). Fue madre de 14 hijos. Siendo esclavizada se fuga y es reconocida por liderar un palenque con 45 cimarrones, haciendo que más esclavos se fugaran. En 1862 se une con 200 cimarrones y derrotan al ejercito criollo en Palmira Valle. Murió con 123 años. Me pareció muy interesante su vida y aunque estas historias son pocos conocidas no dejan de ser fascinantes y dignas de divulgar ampliamente. Para esta pintura usé pintura al frío diluyéndola con agua para dar un efecto acuarelado y trabajé sobre un lienzo.
