It's not so easy to write a few words about a simple step.
The assembly is reasonably easy to handle, even if there are no steps for my vehicle available. In addition, two separate angles for attaching the step had to be prepared separately.
Finding a suitable part was a bit more difficult. As a Toyota driver, one usually does not poke in "foreign" forums or shops, especially not if they explicitly address the Land Rover audience. "Aunt" Google is more pragmatic and offers a wide range of possible products.
But, defying all prejudices, I ordered this step from a Land Rover supplier and received it soon afterwards. Although the footboard is sturdy and heavy, I believe that thicker iron on the mounting angles would provide more stability. All in all, I am confident that the step will serve me well for a while.
Since I do not intend to pull a trailer, the installation location seemed to me ideal right under the flange of the trailer hitch. In addition, it does not bother the slope angle too much and the closed step at the rear is not too overhanging.
Should I still want to use the Landcruiser as a towing vehicle, all I must do is loosen two bolts. No big deal!
Es ist gar nicht so einfach ein paar Worte über einen simplen Tritt zu schreiben.
Die Montage ist einigermassen einfach zu bewältigen, auch wenn es vorliegende Einstiegshilfe nicht im Original für mein Fahrzeug zu kaufen gibt. Zudem müssen noch separat zwei Winkel für das Anbringen der Stufe zurechtgebaut werden.
Das Auffinden eines passenden Teils war da schon ein bisschen schwieriger. Als Toyota-Fahrer bewegt man sich ja in der Regel nicht auf "fremden" Foren oder Shops, schon gar nicht wenn diese explizit das Land Rover-Publikum ansprechen. Tante Google ist da schon pragmatischer und bietet frisch von der Leber weg auch Konkurrenzprodukte feil.
Allen Vorurteilen trotzend, habe ich mir bei einem Land Rover Zulieferer diesen Tritt bestellt und bald darauf auch geliefert erhalten. Obwohl die Aufstiegshilfe robust und schwer daherkommt, bin ich der Meinung, dass etwas dickeres Eisen an den Verschraubungen für mehr Stabilität sorgen würde. Alles in Allem bin ich aber zuversichtlich, dass mir der Tritt eine Weile lang gute Dienste leisten wird.
Da ich nicht vor habe, eine Anhänger zu ziehen, schien mir der Montageort genau beim Flansch der Anhängerkupplung ideal. Zudem büsse ich so nichts von meinem Böschungswinkel ein und zugeklappt ist der Tritt am Heck auch nicht übermässig überstehend.
Sollte ich den Landcruiser trotzdem einmal als Zugfahrzeug verwenden wollen, so muss ich lediglich zwei Schrauben lösen. Keine grosse Sache!
